M&M’S and Marvel Launch Collectible Character Packs, Doctor Doom Walmart Exclusive and Limited-Edition Comic

M&M’S and Marvel are bringing their global collaboration to the United States with a new lineup of collectible candy packaging, a limited-edition crossover comic book and a nationwide sweepstakes ahead of Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday. The centerpiece for package collectors is a series of seven limited-edition M&M’S packs that transform the familiar Spokescandies into Marvel characters. Yellow appears as Wolverine, Red as Deadpool, Blue as Daredevil, Purple as Elektra, Green as She-Hulk, Brown as Yelena and Orange as Red Guardian. The designs will begin appearing at retailers nationwide in October across Sharing Size, Share Size and Single Size packages of M&M’S Milk Chocolate, Minis, Peanut and Peanut Butter varieties.
There is also an eighth design tied directly to Avengers: Doomsday. Walmart will exclusively carry a special package featuring Yellow dressed as Doctor Doom. Mars specifically describes the limited-edition packages as collectible, making the packaging itself one of the major components of the U.S. campaign.
The collaboration extends beyond the candy aisle with a new M&M’S x Marvel crossover comic book. Only 10,000 physical copies will be printed, and Mars says fans will have opportunities to obtain the limited-edition comic at select events leading up to the December 18 theatrical release of Avengers: Doomsday.
Fans got an early look at the campaign during D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, where M&M’S previewed the character mash-up packages along with photo opportunities and Marvel comic book variant cover artwork featuring the M&M’S Spokescandies.
“M&M’S and Marvel fans share an unmatched passion for connecting through fun, characters and storytelling, and we are thrilled to bring this global collaboration to the U.S. with exciting new, and delicious, experiences,” said Maria Urista, Vice President of Chocolate Marketing, Mars Snacking. “From limited-edition character mash-up packs in the candy aisle to exclusive comic books and sweepstakes, we’re giving fans across the country thrilling new ways to assemble, connect and celebrate the fandoms they love, while enjoying their favorite candy, in a way only our two brands can.”
A nationwide sweepstakes will also begin October 15. Consumers can enter by scanning the QR code appearing on the limited-edition M&M’S x Marvel packages or visiting the campaign website, with prizes including a Disney Cruise Line getaway. Mars says additional crossover content, products, perks and in-store experiences are planned as the campaign continues.
The M&M’S release joins a rapidly growing group of food and beverage promotions surrounding Avengers: Doomsday. Earlier Thursday, CollectiblesNews.com reported on eight Happy Coffee collector cans featuring characters including Doctor Doom, Thor, Captain America and Mister Fantastic. Dunkin’ is also preparing a collection that includes a Doctor Doom MUNCHKINS tin, themed tumblers and cup sleeves.
Grocery-store packaging has become another major part of the movie’s promotional campaign. Pop Secret recently introduced limited-edition Avengers: Doomsday packaging, while Avengers: Doomsday Cheetos packaging began attracting collectors in August.
The new M&M’S campaign adds something different to that growing group because it gives collectors a defined lineup of character mash-ups to hunt down, along with a Walmart-exclusive Doctor Doom design and a physical comic limited to 10,000 copies. Mars says the collectible packages will begin arriving at U.S. retailers in October, with the campaign continuing through the lead-up to Avengers: Doomsday, which opens in theaters December 18, 2026.
