Alt Launches Binding Bounty Auction for Cooper Flagg Rookie Debut Patch Autograph Before Card Is Consigned

The battle to land Cooper Flagg’s one-of-one Rookie Debut Patch Autograph card has taken another unusual turn. Alt has launched what it calls a “Debut Bounty Auction” for the card, allowing collectors to place real, binding bids before the Flagg one-of-one has been consigned to the platform.

“Talk is cheap. Put your money where your mouth is,” Alt wrote in announcing the new auction format.

Alt said there has already been plenty of discussion about what collectors believe the card is worth, including posts, texts and videos. Instead of another valuation, the company is giving collectors an opportunity to actually bid.

“We’re doing something we’ve never done: let you place a real, binding bid on the Flagg 1/1 before it’s consigned anywhere,” Alt said.

There is one major condition.

If the Cooper Flagg card is eventually consigned to Alt, every bid placed through the Debut Bounty Auction will carry directly into the live auction. If the card never comes to Alt, the bids expire and bidders owe nothing.

Alt described the setup as “zero risk to find out what it’s really worth.” The Debut Bounty Auction is currently live on Alt’s website.

Flagg Card Was Just Pulled in Rhode Island

The new Alt campaign comes immediately after the one-of-one card was finally found.

As CollectiblesNews.com reported, Rhody Breakers pulled the Cooper Flagg Rookie Debut Patch Autograph during a three-hobby-box break in Rhode Island for a client identified as J Phills. Topps subsequently confirmed that the card had been found.

The card is the one-of-one Rookie Debut Patch Autograph from 2025-26 Topps Chrome Basketball Update. It contains the NBA Debut patch worn by Flagg during his first regular-season game and also carries his autograph.

With the card now in the hands of a collector, attention has quickly shifted from finding it to where it could ultimately end up.

Goldin Has Offered a $1.5 Million Cash Advance

Alt is not the first company to make a major play for the Flagg card.

Goldin previously announced that it would provide the owner with a $1.5 million cash advance if the card is consigned to the auction house.

As CollectiblesNews.com previously reported, the $1.5 million is an advance rather than a purchase price. Goldin said it would then auction the card and attempt to achieve the best possible market price.

Goldin said that if collectors ultimately bid the card to $3 million, $4 million, $5 million or more, additional upside would go to the consignor.

Dallas Mavericks Have Their Own Bounty

The Dallas Mavericks have also made a public offer for the one-of-one.

The team’s bounty is led by two premium lower-level Mavericks season tickets for 32 seasons, matching Flagg’s No. 32 jersey.

The Mavericks package also includes a signed, game-worn jersey from Flagg’s rookie season, a postgame photograph with him, a private photo session with team trophies, a VIP tour of the Mavericks’ practice facility, a private basketball experience for the cardholder and nine guests and a road trip to watch Dallas play the Boston Celtics.

Unlike Goldin’s cash advance, the Mavericks presented their bounty as a trade and did not assign a monetary value to the package.

Alt Takes a Different Approach

Alt’s new offer takes a different approach from both Goldin and the Mavericks.

Rather than announcing a set cash advance or a package of tickets and experiences, Alt is allowing collectors themselves to establish bids for the card before the owner has agreed to consign it there.

Those bids only become relevant if the card ultimately comes to Alt. If it does, Alt says the existing bids will roll directly into the live auction. If it does not, the bids expire without anyone owing money.

That gives the owner of the Flagg one-of-one another option as decisions about the card’s future continue. With bids already reaching $2.9 million on Alt, the owner of the card is essentially getting an advance preview of what the card may go for at auction.

In a matter of days, the card has gone from one of the biggest unopened chases in basketball collecting to the subject of competing efforts from the Dallas Mavericks, Goldin and now Alt.
