Walmart Reveals McFarlane Batman and Spawn Gold Label 2-Pack for October 9 Drop
Walmart has revealed a new McFarlane Toys Batman and Spawn Collector Edition Gold Label two-pack, bringing the two comic book icons together again in a set aimed squarely at collectors. The new DC Multiverse release is priced at $49.97 and is scheduled to drop online at Walmart on October 9 at 10 AM ET. Walmart currently lists the set as an exclusive release.
Batman and Spawn have crossed paths repeatedly in comics and collectibles, and McFarlane Toys has already produced a previous figure based on the pairing. This new release adds the Gold Label designation, which McFarlane commonly uses for special retailer-exclusive or limited-distribution versions within its DC Multiverse line.
The Walmart listing shows both characters together in collector-focused packaging, continuing McFarlane’s recent push toward premium two-packs built around major character matchups. The $49.97 price places it close to the cost of buying two standard DC Multiverse figures individually, while the Gold Label branding gives the set an additional exclusivity angle.
McFarlane has previously released a Batman and Spawn two-pack based on Todd McFarlane’s comic artwork. That earlier set featured 7-inch figures with Ultra Articulation, including up to 22 moving parts, along with a specialized display base and backdrop. Batman came with extra hands and a Batarang, while Spawn included a sword, and both figures came with collectible art cards.
The new Walmart edition appears to be a separate Collector Edition Gold Label release rather than simply a restock of that earlier set. Some of the differences include a special collector comic book and a pair of machine guns rather than a sword for Spawn.
Batman and Spawn remain an unusually natural pairing for McFarlane Toys. Todd McFarlane created Spawn in 1992 and has also had a lengthy history drawing Batman, including his influential work on the character with writer Frank Miller. The two characters have crossed over in comics multiple times, giving McFarlane plenty of source material for figures that appeal to both DC and Spawn collectors.
As CollectiblesNews.com reported earlier this month, Walmart Collector Con returns October 8 with another wave of new and exclusive collectibles. The Batman and Spawn two-pack follows one day later on October 9 as part of that event.
The McFarlane Toys DC Multiverse Batman & Spawn Collector Edition Gold Label 2-Pack will be available through Walmart beginning October 9 at 10 AM ET for $49.97.
