Collectible Grading Authority Opens New York Office With In-Person Drop-Off Service

Collectible Grading Authority is expanding its physical presence with a new office in New York, giving collectors in the region a place to drop off action figures, video games and other collectibles for grading without having to ship them directly to the company. CGA called the location an official company office supporting its Action Figure Authority, Video Game Authority and Media Grading Authority brands.

The biggest change for customers is the ability to make in-person submissions. The New York office will accept collectibles for authentication, grading and encapsulation during designated public drop-off hours on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 3:30 PM to 7 PM Other drop-off times can be scheduled by appointment.

The actual grading work will not be performed in New York. CGA says its Roswell, Georgia facility will remain the company’s headquarters and primary operations center. Items submitted in New York will be transported to Georgia by CGA drivers, where authentication, grading and encapsulation will take place. Once the process is complete, customers can either have their collectibles transported back to the New York office for pickup or have them shipped directly to their address through an insured third-party shipping service.

“New York has one of the largest and most passionate collector communities in the country, so establishing an official CGA presence here was a natural next step for us,” said Andrew Aiello, Partner at Collectible Grading Authority. “This is more than a drop-off point. It is a working CGA office supporting AFA, VGA and MGA, while also giving collectors in the region a convenient way to submit their collectibles directly to us.”

Action Figure Authority focuses on action figures and toys, while Video Game Authority handles video games and consoles. Media Grading Authority is the company’s newer division and covers a much broader group of media collectibles, including VHS tapes, DVDs, Blu-rays, vinyl records, CDs, cassettes, mobile phones and other collectible media.

CGA says it has served the hobby for more than 25 years through AFA and VGA, with MGA representing its more recent expansion into categories beyond toys and games. The company also continues to emphasize its encapsulation process as part of its grading service. CGA says its cases are handcrafted in the United States using U.S.-sourced museum-quality acrylic intended for long-term protection and display.

CGA partner Tom Derby said the New York office is meant to give collectors in the Northeast more direct access to the company while supporting the continued growth of AFA, VGA and MGA. The new office gives CGA a physical foothold in one of the country’s largest collector markets while keeping its core grading operation centralized in Georgia.
