Collectible Grading Authority is expanding into collectible media with the launch of Media Grading Authority.

The service is dedicated to the authentication, grading, encapsulation and preservation of collectible media, including VHS tapes, Betamax, LaserDiscs, DVDs, Blu-rays, CDs, cassette tapes, vinyl records, box sets, SteelBooks, computer software, mobile devices, tablets and more.

CGA is already known in the collectibles market through Action Figure Authority and Video Game Authority. The company said it has spent more than 25 years helping collectors authenticate, grade and preserve collectibles, and that MGA brings the same focus to collectible media.

Tom Derby, Partner of Collectible Grading Authority, said media has become one of the fastest-growing segments of the collectibles market and is supported by a passionate collector community. He said MGA will bring professional authentication, grading and museum-quality preservation to a category that has long needed a dedicated grading service.

Each MGA submission is professionally authenticated, graded and encapsulated in a premium acrylic case handcrafted at CGA’s Georgia facility. The company said each case is custom engineered for its specific media format and designed for presentation, long-term protection and tamper-evident security.

Andrew Aiello, Partner of Collectible Grading Authority, said collectors have been asking for a dedicated media grading service for years. He pointed to factory-sealed VHS tapes, rare vinyl records, limited edition Blu-rays and vintage cassettes as examples of media collectibles that represent entertainment history.

The company said MGA is now accepting submissions from collectors around the world. Collectors can review accepted media formats, submission options and grading services through MGA’s website.

CGA said the launch follows its 2025 acquisition by its current ownership team, which has continued investing in grading services, customer experience, new technologies and expanded company capabilities. The company described MGA as the latest step in serving the evolving needs of collectors worldwide.

For collectors, the launch gives physical media its own dedicated grading lane under the CGA family. As sealed VHS, vinyl, CDs, Blu-rays and other entertainment formats continue to draw interest, MGA is positioning itself as a new option for collectors who want media items authenticated, graded, preserved and displayed.
