U.S. Mint Reveals Green Lantern Gold Coin and Silver Medals Featuring John Stewart
Green Lantern is officially joining the U.S. Mint’s Comic Art Coin & Medal Collection, and the Mint has now revealed the finished designs featuring John Stewart. The 2026 Green Lantern release will include a 24-karat gold proof coin along with 2.5-ounce and one-ounce silver medals. All three products are currently listed by the U.S. Mint as “coming soon,” although an exact release date has not yet been announced. The designs put John Stewart, Earth’s third Green Lantern, at the center of the release.
On the obverse of the coin and medal, Stewart is shown soaring above Earth with his power ring illuminated. His stance is deliberately protective, with the Mint describing the image as reflecting his resolve, dedication and willpower. The inscription “LIBERTY” appears on the medal version.
The reverse shifts the attention directly to the source of Green Lantern’s power. It features a raised fist with the power ring sending out a beam of light. The medal carries the inscriptions “GREEN LANTERN” and “HONORABLE AND POWERFUL.”
The largest of the two silver offerings will be the 2.5-ounce Green Lantern medal, struck at the Philadelphia Mint and priced at $400. The one-ounce silver medal will also be struck in Philadelphia and is listed at $200. The Mint has not announced household order limits for either product.
A 24-karat gold proof coin will be struck at West Point. The Mint has not yet posted a price or release date for the gold version. Its product number is 26DGG.
Green Lantern is part of the second year of the U.S. Mint’s multi-year Comic Art Coin & Medal Collection, which was created in collaboration with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products. The series launched with Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman and is expanding in 2026 with Supergirl, Robin and Green Lantern. The Mint describes Green Lantern as representing honor and willpower, while Robin is tied to fearlessness and loyalty and Supergirl to bravery and grace. The program is scheduled to continue in 2027 with The Flash, Batgirl and Aquaman.
Rather than using Hal Jordan, the Mint chose Stewart, who first appeared in DC Comics in 1971 and went on to become one of the best-known members of the Green Lantern Corps. The final artwork differs from some of the designs considered during the Mint’s advisory process. The Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee and Commission of Fine Arts reviewed multiple Green Lantern concepts in 2025.
The Mint has not yet announced when orders will open for the Green Lantern products. The two silver medals are already priced at $400 and $200, while pricing for the gold proof coin remains to be determined.
