U.S. Mint Unveils Supergirl Gold Coin and Silver Medals

The United States Mint has unveiled a new Supergirl gold coin and pair of silver medals as the fourth release in its Comic Art Coin and Medal Program. The Supergirl collectibles will go on sale October 1 at noon ET, while subscriptions for the one-ounce silver medal open August 17.

The release includes a 24-karat gold proof coin, a 2.5-ounce silver medal and a one-ounce silver medal. The one-ounce silver medal will be priced at $200 and has no announced mintage limit. The larger 2.5-ounce silver medal will cost $400 and is limited to 25,000 pieces.

The 24-karat gold proof coin will have a mintage limit of 10,000. Its price will be determined using the U.S. Mint’s pricing grid for numismatic gold products.

All three versions feature Supergirl soaring above the clouds on the obverse. The inscriptions are “LIBERTY,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and “2026” (24-karat gold coin); “LIBERTY” and “2026” (2.5-ounce silver medal); and “LIBERTY” (one-ounce silver medal). The silver medals carry the inscriptions “SUPERGIRL,” “BRAVERY LIFTS HER” and “GRACE GUIDES HER.”

The reverse depicts Supergirl alongside Krypto surrounded by a starburst effect. The inscriptions are “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” “$50,” “1/2 OZ,” and “.9999 FINE GOLD” (24-karat gold coin); “SUPERGIRL,” “BRAVERY LIFTS HER,” and “GRACE GUIDES HER,” the thematic values of bravery and grace (silver medals).

U.S. Mint Chief Engraver Joseph Menna designed and sculpted the obverse, while Mint Medallic Artist Phebe Hemphill designed and sculpted the reverse.

The gold coin will be a half-ounce piece struck in .9999 fine gold with a $50 denomination.

Each gold coin and silver medal will be encapsulated and packaged in a presentation case with a Certificate of Authenticity. The gold coin and 2.5-ounce silver medal will each include a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.

The Supergirl release is part of the U.S. Mint’s Comic Art Coin and Medal Program created in collaboration with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products. The program is designed around DC superheroes and previously featured Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman.

Collectors will be able to purchase the Supergirl gold coin and silver medals beginning October 1 at noon ET through the U.S. Mint.
