Beckett Reopens Card Grading Submissions After Temporary Pause

Beckett has reopened card grading submissions after a temporary pause, following through on its plan to resume service on September 15. The company said Base, Standard and Express submissions are now available again, although collectors will need to use a temporary submission form while Beckett continues working on upgrades to its digital infrastructure.

Pricing has not changed, and Beckett says it is not extending estimated turnaround times as part of the reopening. That means current service levels remain at $17.95 for Base, $34.95 for Standard and $79.95 for Express. Beckett currently lists estimated turnaround times of 75+ business days for Base, 45 business days for Standard and 15 business days for Express. The reopening comes a little more than a month after Beckett paused new Base and Standard submissions because of heavy grading demand.

As CollectiblesNews.com reported on August 5, Beckett temporarily stopped accepting those lower-priced tiers after submissions surged, with the company citing a 102% year-over-year increase in total cards submitted and a 159% increase in TCG cards graded. At the time, Beckett said the pause was designed to give its grading team room to focus on existing orders, expand capacity and protect turnaround times rather than allow the backlog to grow further.

Existing orders continued moving through the system during the pause, and cards already in transit were still accepted. Express and Priority services also remained available. Beckett said it used the break to add staffing and resources, expand operating hours and make software and workstation improvements aimed at increasing grading capacity.

Now that September 15 has arrived, the company says collectors can once again submit through Base, Standard and Express.

The normal digital submission system is not fully back yet, however. Beckett said it is still upgrading its online infrastructure and is directing collectors to a temporary submission form in the meantime. The company said the work is intended to support future service improvements rather than delay the return of submissions.
