Donald Trump Graded Chase Coin Sells for Nearly $2K on eBay

The secondary market for the rare July 4 version of the 2026 President Donald J. Trump $1 coin is moving higher, with a graded example selling for nearly $2,000 on eBay. An eBay listing for a 2026 President Donald J. Trump July 4th Privy $1 coin, graded PCGS MS67 and designated First Day of Issue, sold for $1,990 on September 5. The coin was offered by Gold Rush Exchange.
The sale marks a significant jump from the first secondary-market activity CollectiblesNews.com tracked just days earlier. On September 2, CollectiblesNews.com reported that an ungraded July 4 privy Trump dollar had sold for $569 on eBay in an August 29 pre-sale. At the time, individual raw examples were already being offered for more than $500, while some graded versions carried asking prices well into the thousands.
The $1,990 sale provides another early indication of the premium collectors are willing to pay for high-grade examples of the chase coin. The eBay listing identifies the coin as a Philadelphia issue graded PCGS MS67, with the July 4 privy designation prominently noted.
The chase began before the coins even reached collectors. CollectiblesNews.com first reported on the special July 4 coins on August 27, when the U.S. Mint revealed that 250,000 of the Trump dollars had been struck at the Philadelphia Mint on July 4 and would be randomly mixed into rolls and bags of the regular 2026 Semiquincentennial coins rather than offered as a separate product.
That distribution method effectively turned the July 4 issue into a chase coin. Collectors purchasing rolls or bags do not know in advance whether one of the special coins is inside. Interest was immediate when the Mint began selling the Trump coin rolls and bags on September 2. As CollectiblesNews.com reported at the time, the initial available inventory was quickly exhausted, with the products subsequently moving to backorder status.
The regular and July 4 versions share the same basic design. The obverse features President Trump along with “LIBERTY,” “IN GOD WE TRUST” and the dual date “1776 ~ 2026.” The reverse features the Presidential Seal, with “250” incorporated into the shield in recognition of the United States Semiquincentennial. The chase version is distinguished by its July 4 privy inscription.
With more coins still reaching collectors and additional examples likely headed to grading services, the September 5 sale gives the market one of its first significant benchmarks for a high-grade July 4 Trump chase coin.
