Commodore and Cyberpunk 2077 Team Up on Limited-Edition Commodore 77 Computer

Commodore is heading to Night City with a new piece of collectible gaming hardware created in collaboration with CD PROJEKT RED. The newly announced Commodore 77 is the first special-edition Commodore 64 Ultimate computer and the first franchise hardware partnership in Commodore’s 68-year history. Inspired by the look of Cyberpunk 2077, the machine is available for pre-order now for $377, with shipping expected to begin in early 2027.
The computer gets a full Cyberpunk makeover rather than simply adding a logo to the existing hardware. Its design includes a smoked gray translucent case, a metal plate, graffiti-style markings, a turquoise glow and a custom neon power light. The system also features a Cyberpunk 2077-themed Commodore 77 BASIC 2.0 boot screen and customized menu colors.
Owners will also receive an exclusive Cyberpunk 2077 demo created specifically for the Commodore 77. The non-interactive demo expands on the game’s universe and comes on an “Arasaka” cartridge designed to resemble the shards seen in Cyberpunk 2077. Commodore says the demo will not be available anywhere else.
Polish Commodore 64 demo group Arise created the program, while chiptune artist LukHash supplied an original soundtrack. The demo uses features found in the enhanced Commodore 64 Ultimate line, including 24 channels of stereo SID music and a 2MB cartridge chip. While it plays, LEDs in the base of the computer light up and move in time with the presentation through the translucent case.
The collaboration also comes with several physical extras aimed directly at collectors. Commodore says the package will include stickers, pins, collectible Cyberpunk 2077-themed packaging and a spiral-bound user guide filled with lore and exclusive themed BASIC programs that owners can type into the computer themselves.
Under the Night City styling, the Commodore 77 remains an FPGA-powered recreation of the original Commodore 64. Commodore says it will be compatible with more than 99.9% of the 10,000-plus existing Commodore 64 games and peripherals. The company is also targeting speeds of up to 77MHz through an AMD Artix XC7A100T processor, compared with the original Commodore 64’s 1MHz processor speed.
The project brings together two very different eras of gaming. Commodore’s roots stretch back to the earliest years of home computing, while Cyberpunk 2077 imagines a technology-heavy future dominated by corporations and advanced hardware.
“In a world dominated by corporate surveillance, algorithmic feeds, and private security, the safest tech is sometimes the oldest,” said Peri Fractic, President, CEO, and Chief Product Officer, Commodore. “Commodore 64 owners have never needed a corporation’s permission to build something new on our hardware, and that’s very much the spirit of Cyberpunk 2077. We’re deeply honored that CD PROJEKT RED felt the same, and gave us the chance to play in their world. I have been a fan of the game since its release, and it was rewarding to learn in my discussions with their Joint CEO, Michał Nowakowski, that he was a lifelong Commodore 64 fan in turn. For us both, this has been a collaboration where art imitates life, and in turn, life for the denizens of Night City now imitates that art. We hope they enjoy their new terminal.”
“When we signed the deal with Commodore to collaborate on the Commodore 77, I was thrilled,” said Patrick Mills, Franchise Content Strategy Lead at CD PROJEKT RED. “As an old-school PC gamer myself, I can still remember when the Commodore 64 was the pinnacle of gaming tech. Commodore’s legacy wasn’t the only thing that excited me, though. The tech in Cyberpunk 2077 is chunky, tactile, and substantial — meaning that the Commodore 77 can really feel like a device lifted straight out of the game world and onto your desktop. The Commodore 77 demo similarly brings a slice of Cyberpunk 2077 and Night City to the long-established C64 demo scene, a demonstration of technical skill and the power of the Commodore.”
The Commodore 77 is available for pre-order now for $377, with the first units scheduled to ship in early 2027.
