NGC Unveils Special Labels for 1776-2026 Morgan and Peace Silver Dollars
NGC has announced a lineup of special certification labels and release designations for the upcoming 1776-2026 Enhanced Uncirculated Morgan and Peace Silver Dollars, giving collectors several options when submitting the new U.S. Mint coins for grading.
The U.S. Mint is scheduled to release both coins on August 25, 2026. Each was struck at the West Point Mint and carries a mintage limit of 250,000, with a household order limit of 10. The coins are part of the Mint’s celebration of the United States’ 250th anniversary and feature the dual dates “1776-2026.” They also carry a Liberty Bell mintmark, one of several special changes appearing on U.S. coinage for the Semiquincentennial.
NGC said collectors will be able to choose from several labels for certified examples, including its America250 US Flag label and West Point Mint Gold Star label. The America250 and West Point labels each carry an additional $8 fee. Standard Morgan Dollar and Peace Dollar labels will be used by default for the respective coins at no additional charge, while NGC’s Standard Brown label is also available by request for free.
Collectors will also have the option of requesting NGC’s popular Early Releases or First Releases designations. To qualify, the coins must be received by NGC within the first 30 days of release. Either designation costs an additional $18, and collectors can pair the designation with several of the available specialty labels.
NGC is also offering a Thomas J. Uram Signature Label through select retailers. Uram, a former chairman of the Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee, played a major role in advancing the 1921 Silver Dollar Coin Anniversary Act that authorized the modern Morgan and Peace Dollar program.
The modern Morgan and Peace Dollar series began in 2021 as a tribute to the 100th anniversary of the transition between the two classic silver dollar designs. The original Morgan Dollar was produced from 1878 through 1904 and again in 1921, while the Peace Dollar was struck from 1921 through 1935. NGC said it has graded more than 5.5 million vintage Morgan and Peace Dollars along with more than 800,000 examples from the modern series.
For direct submissions, NGC says the new coins should be submitted under the Modern grading tier or higher and do not need to remain in their original U.S. Mint packaging. NGC is also making its First Day of Issue designation available for select bulk submissions, subject to additional purchase-date and submission requirements.
With both 1776-2026 Morgan and Peace Dollars arriving August 25, the special NGC labels add another collecting angle to what is already expected to be one of the U.S. Mint’s more closely watched releases of the year.
