CGC Launches Official Sports Illustrated Labels for Magazines and Cards

CGC has introduced officially licensed Sports Illustrated and Sports Illustrated Kids certification labels for graded magazines and sports cards.

The new custom labels can be added to qualifying sports collectible submissions, including Sports Illustrated magazines and cards originally distributed through Sports Illustrated Kids.

CGC is offering separate Sports Illustrated and Sports Illustrated Kids label designs for magazines. Sports Illustrated Kids labels will also be available for graded cards.

The company said the labels can be selected for regular CGC grading, CGC Signature Series and CGC x JSA Authentic Autograph submissions. Each custom label costs an additional $8 per collectible.

Collectors submitting Sports Illustrated Kids cards can also receive a special version of the label when a card earns a CGC Pristine 10 grade.

Sports Illustrated Kids cards have attracted increased collector interest in recent years, particularly among collectors drawn to sports cards and memorabilia from the 1990s. The magazine distributed cards featuring numerous athletes as inserts within its issues.

CGC has graded and encapsulated Sports Illustrated magazines since launching its magazine certification service in 2009. The company said its holders are designed to protect magazines while keeping the covers clearly visible.

To request one of the labels, collectors can begin a new magazine or card submission, choose the appropriate grading tier and select the custom label option after locating the collectible.

CGC said Signature Series and CGC x JSA label options for card submissions will become available through its online submission form beginning August 5.

The new labels arrive as CGC continues expanding its services for sports magazine collectors. The company recently added 66 Sports Magazine Registry sets covering Sports Illustrated, Sports Illustrated Kids, Sport, The Ring and Slam.
