Dunkin’ Expands Avengers: Doomsday Campaign With Four Marvel Restaurant Takeovers

Dunkin’s Avengers: Doomsday promotion is getting much bigger, with four restaurants in Los Angeles, Chicago, New York City and Boston being transformed into immersive Marvel-themed destinations as the company officially launches its nationwide campaign. The expansion follows the menu and collectible lineup first revealed in October and now available at participating Dunkin’ restaurants nationwide. The new phase adds a commercial starring Channing Tatum as Gambit, appearances by H.E.R.B.I.E. from the Fantastic Four and four physical restaurant takeovers themed around the Fantastic Four, X-Men, Avengers and Doctor Doom.
Beginning November 17, the Dunkin’ at 6201 Hollywood Blvd. in Los Angeles will become a Fantastic Four-themed restaurant, while the location at 10 West Chicago Ave. in Chicago will receive an X-Men transformation. One day later, an Avengers-themed takeover will open at 102 8th Ave. in New York City, while the Dunkin’ at 209 N Harvard St. in Boston’s Allston neighborhood will be transformed around Doctor Doom.
Dunkin’ says the four locations will remain transformed through early December, giving fans several weeks to visit the themed spaces before Avengers: Doomsday arrives in theaters December 18. The company has not detailed every installation or display that will appear inside the restaurants, but describes the locations as immersive destinations designed around four different corners of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The latest campaign also introduces a new commercial titled “MUNCHKIN Incursion,” with Channing Tatum reprising his role as Gambit alongside H.E.R.B.I.E. In the spot, Gambit reaches for an Iced Captain’ccino while H.E.R.B.I.E. arrives with Doomsday and Avenging MUNCHKINS before their Dunkin’ stop is interrupted as different worlds begin colliding.
The campaign continues a merchandise rollout CollectiblesNews.com first covered in October. That initial announcement revealed a Doctor Doom 25-count MUNCHKINS tin, Avengers: Doomsday tumblers, a color-changing mug and several styles of collectible cup sleeves inspired by characters and teams appearing in the movie.
The Doctor Doom MUNCHKINS tin is designed around Doom’s metal mask and green hood and is available with a 25-count MUNCHKINS purchase for $14.99 while supplies last. Avengers: Doomsday tumblers are priced at $24.99, while the black color-changing mug costs $14.99 and reveals film and Dunkin’ graphics when activated by temperature.
Dunkin’ is also offering glove-style cup sleeves inspired by Doctor Doom, Black Panther, Mister Fantastic and Captain America, along with more traditional character cup sleeves featuring artwork tied to Doctor Doom, the Avengers, X-Men and Fantastic Four. The latest November 4 announcement lists the glove cup sleeves at $19.99 and the character sleeves at $8.99.
The collectibles are joined by a full character-inspired food and drink menu. The Iced Captain’ccino combines espresso, caramel flavor and coffee milk, while the Clobbered Cloud Latte draws inspiration from The Thing with toasted white chocolate, Cookie Butter Cold Foam and crumbles. The Wakandan Daydream Refresher is inspired by Black Panther, and the Optic Blast Lemonade takes its theme from Cyclops. Doctor Doom gets two drinks of his own. Doom’s Orders Energy combines Green Apple Dunkin’ Zero, sparkling water and Purple Marshmallow Cold Foam, while the Doom Cloud Latte mixes espresso, whole milk, mocha swirl and vanilla flavors with Sweet Cold Foam and cocoa powder.
The bakery lineup includes the returning Brownie Batter Donut reworked as the Doomsday Donut with green and chocolate sprinkles, an Avenging Donut filled with cotton candy and topped with colors representing the Avengers, X-Men and Fantastic Four, and Doomsday and Avenging MUNCHKINS.
The latest announcement fulfills the promise Dunkin’ made when it first revealed the collaboration in October. At the time, the company said the November 4 menu and collectible launch was only the beginning, with additional surprises coming at the start of November. The themed restaurant transformations and Gambit campaign are the next part of that rollout.
