Sovereignty Breeders’ Cup Classic Win Gets Topps NOW Card With 1-of-1 Auto-Relic Chase

The Breeders’ Cup is officially entering Topps NOW, with a new trading card partnership commemorating four winners from the 2026 Breeders’ Cup World Championships, including Classic champion Sovereignty with a card featuring rare autograph-relic chases.
The collaboration marks the first official Breeders’ Cup trading card program with Topps NOW and covers the winners of four marquee races from the October 30-31 championships at Keeneland Race Course in Lexington, Kentucky. Sovereignty represents the Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic, while Nitrogen appears for the Longines Breeders’ Cup Distaff, Benvenuto Cellini for the Longines Breeders’ Cup Turf and Hughes for the FanDuel Breeders’ Cup Juvenile.
Sovereignty’s 2026 Breeders’ Cup Topps NOW Card BC04 is priced at $11.99 and is available for only 48 hours, with the sales window running from now through November 4. The standard release is an open-edition card, meaning the final print run will be determined by how many cards are ordered before the window closes.
The biggest chases are a one-of-one Auto-Relic Redemption Card and an Auto-Relic Redemption numbered to five. According to the Breeders’ Cup announcement, the limited-edition chase cards for the Classic and Juvenile incorporate authentic autographs from the winning jockeys along with pieces of race-worn silks from the winning owners, creating a direct memorabilia connection between the cards and the championship races.
Topps is also inserting its usual lineup of numbered foil parallels into the Sovereignty release. Gold Foil cards are numbered to 50, Orange Foil to 25, Black Foil to 10 and Red Foil to five, with the parallel run ending in a one-of-one FoilFractor. Any parallel or other non-base card replaces the standard card in an order, with the odds determined by the total number of cards purchased during the sales period.
Additional Chrome parallels could be unlocked if the Sovereignty card reaches Topps NOW’s higher print-run thresholds. A print run of 50,000 or more unlocks Chrome parallels numbered to 99 and 50 along with lower-numbered versions, while 100,000 cards would add Chrome parallels numbered to 25, 10 and five plus a one-of-one SuperFractor. Opal Chrome parallels begin at 250,000 cards, and a print run of at least 500,000 would unlock a one-of-one White OpalFractor Chrome.
Sovereignty won the 2026 Breeders’ Cup Classic with Junior Alvarado aboard, giving Topps one of the biggest moments of the championships for the new card program. The Classic card joins the releases honoring Nitrogen, Benvenuto Cellini and Hughes, creating a four-card group centered on some of the event’s most prominent winners. Hughes’ Breeders’ Cup Juvenile card was the first to launch, going on sale October 31 for a 48-hour window. The Sovereignty, Nitrogen and Benvenuto Cellini cards followed on November 2 and will remain available through November 4.
The partnership also has a charitable component. Breeders’ Cup says all revenue it receives through the Topps NOW program will be donated to Breeders’ Cup Charities, which supports Thoroughbred aftercare, jockey health and wellness, equine research, backstretch communities and other industry initiatives.
“Every Breeders’ Cup victory represents an extraordinary achievement, and this partnership with Topps gives us a new way to celebrate those moments and the people and horses behind them,” said Justin McDonald, Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of Breeders’ Cup Limited. “For the first time, four Champions will be celebrated through an official Breeders’ Cup Topps NOW collection, connecting our sport with a new generation of collectors and sports fans. We’re excited to create something special that captures the thrill of the World Championships while extending the reach of our sport.”
The release also represents a first for Topps NOW itself. According to Breeders’ Cup, the new collection marks the first time Topps NOW has featured horse racing, extending the print-on-demand card format into another major sport.
