Pokémon Confirms McDonald’s Happy Meal Promotion Cards and Toys List

Pokemon Cards McDonald's

The Pokémon Company has officially confirmed the next McDonald’s Pokémon Happy Meal promotion, giving collectors a clearer look at the toys and trading cards that will begin arriving at restaurants in November. Each Happy Meal will include one miniature Happy Meal box-shaped Pokémon toy along with two Pokémon Trading Card Game cards. There are 15 different toys to collect and 15 cards in the accompanying Pokémon TCG set, including seven foil cards. The miniature boxes can also be turned into charms that can be clipped onto keys, bags and other items.

The official announcement confirms much of what CollectiblesNews.com reported earlier this week. In our October 27 report on the upcoming McDonald’s Pokémon TCG promotion, information ahead of the official reveal indicated that the U.S. promotion would include 15 miniature Pokémon-themed Happy Meal box toys and a 15-card TCG set, with each meal containing two random cards.

The 15 miniature Happy Meal box toys feature Pikachu, Eevee, Umbreon, Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Weedle, Torchic, Piplup, Munchlax, Minccino, Espurr, Rowlet, Sobble and Sprigatito. With only one toy included in each Happy Meal, collectors looking to complete the entire group will have plenty to track down or trade for during the promotion.

There is a separate 15-card Pokémon TCG collection featuring Decidueye, Chandelure, Palafin, Pikachu, Mimikyu, Lucario, Hawlucha, Tyranitar, Absol, Zoroark, Metagross, Jirachi, Eevee, Snorlax and Wooloo. Seven of those cards receive foil treatments: Chandelure, Palafin, Pikachu, Mimikyu, Lucario, Tyranitar and Jirachi.

That gives collectors two different 15-piece collections to pursue at the same time. Each meal provides only one miniature box toy and two random cards, adding a trading element for anyone hoping to assemble both complete sets. Pokémon has also revealed three larger Happy Meal box designs featuring Pikachu, Umbreon and Torchic, extending the collectible artwork beyond the miniature toys themselves.

The promotion will roll out internationally over several months, with the United States among the markets receiving the Pokémon Happy Meals in November. Other participating countries include Canada, Australia, New Zealand, France, Spain and Fiji, with additional markets following later. There is also an exception for Quebec, Canada. Pokémon says the miniature Happy Meal box toys will not be offered there. Customers will instead receive a Pokémon sticker and a booster pack containing four Pokémon TCG cards.

The new format puts considerably more emphasis on the toy portion of the Happy Meal than many recent Pokémon TCG collaborations. Rather than centering the promotion entirely around cards, collectors now have a matching assortment of miniature Pokémon Happy Meal boxes to pursue at the same time.

The Pokémon Happy Meal promotion will be available for a limited time at participating McDonald’s restaurants while supplies last.
