Emma Roberts Launches Fanatics Live Trading Card Break Channel ‘Summer Breaks’

Emma Roberts Summer Breaks

Emma Roberts is taking her trading card hobby a step further by launching her own card-breaking channel on Fanatics Live. The actress announced during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live that she and her husband, Cody John, are launching Summer Breaks on November 4. The Fanatics Live channel will host daily card breaks along with prizes, celebrity guests and appearances from Roberts herself.

“My husband and I are starting a channel on Fanatics Live called Summer Breaks,” Roberts told Kimmel. She invited collectors to “hang out with us” and participate in breaks and giveaways when the channel launches.

The announcement came during a segment devoted largely to Roberts’ interest in trading cards. Roberts told Kimmel that she collects a mix of entertainment and sports cards, with Star Wars at the top of her list. She also named Disney among her primary collecting interests and said she has opened Pokémon and Magic: The Gathering products as well.

Roberts described herself as a longtime collector beyond cards, saying she also collects first-edition books and dolls. Trading cards have become another part of that interest, with Roberts comparing the hobby to a treasure hunt. That enthusiasm was put on display during the Kimmel appearance when the two opened packs from a box of 1986 Fleer baseball cards.

Before opening the packs, they discussed potential targets including Darryl Strawberry, Dwight Gooden, Gary Carter and Keith Hernandez. The break eventually produced cards of several notable players, including Ozzie Smith and Gary Carter, before Kimmel pulled the Darryl Strawberry they had been hoping to find.

Roberts also revealed one of the cards she and John are currently chasing: an unusual Tom Brady baseball card featuring Brady with a message suggesting that if baseball did not work out, there was always football. While they have not found that particular card, Roberts said the couple does own a Tom Brady autograph card that Brady personally signed for them at the Super Bowl.

The conversation also showed that Roberts’ interest goes beyond simply chasing the most valuable cards. At one point she asked to keep a San Francisco Giants card because her husband is a Giants fan.

Summer Breaks now gives Roberts a regular platform built around that interest. The launch adds another celebrity-backed presence to Fanatics Live while also giving Roberts an opportunity to cover both sides of her collecting interests. Summer Breaks is expected to feature sports and entertainment cards rather than focusing exclusively on one category.

Roberts also revealed another card-related ambition during the interview. Asked about the hobby, she said her “dream job” would be choosing the photographs that appear on trading cards. Roberts said she thinks selecting the images would be fun and joked that some players could use better photos on their cards.
