Pokémon TCG Pocket Dual Fusion Expansion Introduces Dual-Type Mega Mewtwo X ex and Mega Greninja ex

Pokémon TCG Pocket is adding a new twist to its digital card collection with Dual Fusion, an upcoming expansion built around the debut of dual-type Pokémon. The Pokémon Company announced that Dual Fusion will launch Wednesday, October 28 at 6 PM PDT, with Mega Mewtwo X ex and Mega Greninja ex serving as two of the expansion’s headline cards. Mega Mewtwo X ex combines Psychic and Fighting types, while Mega Greninja ex features Water and Darkness types.
The arrival of dual-type Pokémon gives cards access to two different types at once and becomes one of the defining features of the new expansion. Pokémon is positioning the mechanic as both a new collecting element and a way to introduce different strategies into Pokémon TCG Pocket battles. Dual Fusion also continues the game’s focus on Mega Evolution Pokémon. Mega Mewtwo X ex and Mega Greninja ex will be among the first cards collectors can look for when the new booster packs become available.
Pokémon will add new cosmetic items shortly after the expansion arrives. Beginning October 31, players will be able to obtain covers and backdrops featuring Mega Greninja, giving collectors another way to display cards from the new release. Six Dual Fusion rental decks will also become available when the expansion launches. The temporary decks will remain usable through December 15 at 5:59 PM PST and include builds featuring the new dual-type Mega Mewtwo X ex and Mega Greninja ex. Pokémon says the rental decks will be replaced when the next booster pack is released.
Players will also receive a new elite deck through the game’s Gifts feature. That Dragon-type deck brings together Mega Rayquaza ex and Dragonair from Ruler of the Skies with Gouging Fire from Paradox Drive.
The expansion arrives alongside a packed schedule of events that will give players additional opportunities to add cards and promotional items to their collections. Pokémon TCG Pocket’s Second Anniversary Celebration Campaign runs from October 29 through December 14. Players will receive a ticket that can be exchanged for a booster pack guaranteed to contain a ★★ rarity card.
A PROMO Reissue Event will also run from October 29 through November 12, bringing back B series promo cards through both a Drop Event and Wonder Pick Event. Handy Card Collection Missions will begin the same day and continue through January 26, 2027, offering useful Trainer cards including Sabrina and Red.
From November 5 through November 15, the Dual Fusion Emblem Event will reward players with emblems based on the number of battles they win against other players. Battle Rally missions during the event will provide additional rewards including pack hourglasses and shinedust.
Pokémon is also planning a Bonus Week from November 13 through November 20, when daily login missions will award booster packs. Another new group of collectibles arrives November 17 with Promo Pack C Series Vol. 1. Players will be able to earn the promo packs through daily missions, random battles and Dual Fusion limited battles, which place specific restrictions on deck construction. That event runs through December 1.
Three weeks of themed promo card events begin November 25 and continue through December 25. Pokémon says three different types of promo cards centered around specific themes will become available, with new missions added each week. Ranked Match Season C1 follows from November 30 through December 14, with players earning rank points and receiving an emblem based on their final ranking. Community Week runs December 5 through December 12 and will offer rewards for trading and sharing cards, including trade hourglasses and pack hourglasses.
