ComicConnect Sells Two Action Comics #1 Copies at NYCC in Company First

Action Comics #1

Metropolis Collectibles and ComicConnect sold two copies of Action Comics #1 for a combined $2.125 million during New York Comic Con, marking the first time in the company’s history that it has sold two examples of Superman’s 1938 debut at the same convention.

According to Overstreet Access, Metropolis/ComicConnect President Vincent Zurzolo started Friday morning at NYCC by selling a restored CGC 9.0 copy of Action Comics #1 for $1.3 million. The company also sold a raw, low-grade copy for $825,000 to John Dolmayan of Torpedo Comics. Together, the two transactions totaled $2.125 million.

Published in 1938, Action Comics #1 introduced Superman, created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, and has become one of the most valuable and closely watched comic books in the hobby. The NYCC sales add two more copies to an unusually active year for the landmark issue at Metropolis/ComicConnect. Overstreet reports that the company has now sold six copies of Action Comics #1 in 2026 alone.

Earlier this year, Metropolis/ComicConnect sold a CGC 9.0 copy for a record $15 million in a private transaction, followed by a CGC 7.0 example that sold directly through the ComicConnect website for $5 million.

ComicConnect is also preparing its next major sale, Event Auction #68, which is scheduled to open November 16. Among the comics and art already previewed are a 9.6 copy of Batman #171 featuring the Silver Age return of the Riddler, a 7.5 copy of Sensation Comics #1, and Jack Kirby’s cover to The Eternals #19.
