Wild Kingdom and Chia Pet Launch Limited-Edition Five-Piece Wildlife Collection

Wild Kingdom Chia Pets

Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom and Chia Pet are teaming up for a new limited-edition collection featuring five wildlife-themed Chia Pets inspired by conservation stories from around the world. The Wild Revival Collection includes the American bison, red panda, sea otter, sea turtle and bald eagle. Each terra cotta planter comes in packaging that includes educational information about the featured animal and conservation efforts aimed at protecting the species.

The collaboration brings together two brands with decades of history. Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom has been telling wildlife stories since its television debut in 1963, while Chia Pet has been producing its familiar plant-covered terra cotta figures since 1977. Chia Pet has since expanded well beyond traditional animal designs with licensed characters and other pop-culture releases.

Each animal in the new collection was selected around a conservation story. The American bison represents one of North America’s most significant wildlife recoveries after being driven close to extinction, while the bald eagle similarly reflects a major species comeback tied to habitat protection and recovery programs. The sea otter was also once hunted to near extinction before recovering in portions of North America’s coastline. Sea turtles remain the focus of efforts involving nesting beaches, habitat restoration and reducing bycatch, while the red panda continues to face pressures from habitat loss and fragmentation.

The collectible format puts those stories into Chia Pet’s familiar grow-it-yourself design. Rather than simply releasing five new animal sculptures, the Wild Revival Collection connects each piece to Wild Kingdom’s broader conservation theme, with the packaging providing additional information about the species represented.

A portion of proceeds from every Wild Revival Collection Chia Pet sold will be donated to the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. The funding will support the organization’s network and conservation work, including efforts connected to its SAFE: Saving Animals From Extinction program.

The Wild Revival Collection is available for presale through Chia.com. Mutual of Omaha says the limited-edition Chia Pets will also become available through Amazon and at select Association of Zoos and Aquariums-accredited locations across the United States.
