Image Comics Reveals Glow-in-the-Dark D’orc Variant Covers for Full First Story Arc

Image Comics is giving the first story arc of D’orc a glow-in-the-dark makeover, with all five issues getting new “Glow in the D’orc” variant cover reprints following their reveal at New York Comic Con. The special editions cover D’orc #1 through #5, collecting the complete first story arc of Brett Bean’s fantasy series in a matching glow-in-the-dark format. Image Comics said the covers drew an enthusiastic response from comic shop retailers when they were unveiled during a retailer event at NYCC earlier in the week.

Each issue is returning in a different printing. D’orc #1 will receive an eighth printing, while issue #2 will be a fifth printing, issue #3 a fourth printing, issue #4 a second printing and issue #5 a third printing. Image Comics will also offer all five “Glow in the D’orc” variants together as a bundle. The full lineup is scheduled to arrive at comic book shops on November 25.

D’orc follows a half-dwarf, half-orc character caught in the middle of a sprawling fantasy conflict. Armed with an enchanted shield, D’orc becomes entangled in a world of humans, elves, goblins, dwarves, dragons and other creatures while also dealing with a prophecy that says he is destined to end the world. The new variants give collectors another way to pick up the first five issues while also creating a coordinated set across the entire opening arc.

Image Comics is also making D’orc, Vol. 1 available in trade paperback, collecting the first story arc for readers who prefer the collected edition. The series is also available through digital platforms. The “Glow in the D’orc” variants for D’orc #1 through #5, along with the five-issue bundle, are scheduled to reach comic book shops November 25.
