LEGO Invites Fans to Mash Up Marvel and Star Wars for First-Ever Ideas Crossover Challenge

Star Wars Marvel Lego

LEGO is bringing Marvel and Star Wars together in brick form for the first time through a new LEGO Ideas challenge that will give fans the chance to design their own crossover creations and potentially see winning concepts turned into official LEGO products.

The LEGO Group announced the challenge during New York Comic Con, where fans were invited to reimagine characters, vehicles and scenes from the Marvel and Star Wars universes together. The announcement was made during a panel featuring actor, director and Marvel Comics writer Kevin Smith.

Builders can choose from three themes for their submissions: vehicles, characters or scenes. From there, participants can create their Marvel and Star Wars mash-up using LEGO elements and submit the finished concept through the LEGO Ideas platform. The biggest incentive comes after the building is finished. LEGO says submitted designs will go through fan voting, with favorite submissions moving on to become official LEGO products. That gives collectors the unusual possibility of eventually seeing fan-designed Marvel and Star Wars crossover concepts released as actual LEGO sets.

Fede Begher, Senior Vice President and Head of Product Group at the LEGO Group, said: “This challenge is a milestone for LEGO Ideas and our fan community. For the first time ever, fans can build with both Marvel and Star Wars in a single LEGO Ideas challenge, unlocking entirely new possibilities for creativity and storytelling. We know our fans never stop imagining new ways to bring their favourite worlds together, and we’re excited to see the originality, passion and innovation they bring to this unique crossover.”

The crossover is tied to another major event involving the two franchises. Marvel and Star Wars will meet in the upcoming “Star Wars/Marvel: Hope Assembles” comic series, which LEGO says was unveiled over the summer and will launch in January. The series represents the first crossover between the Star Wars and Marvel Comics universes. Its arrival also coincides with a major anniversary for Star Wars. The franchise celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2027, and LEGO says the new Ideas challenge was created both to celebrate the comic crossover and honor that milestone.

Submissions are open now through LEGO Ideas. Fans interested in participating must select one of the three crossover themes and follow the challenge rules and guidelines before submitting their build. Voting begins December 15, 2026, giving the LEGO community a chance to weigh in on which Marvel and Star Wars mash-ups stand out. LEGO says the Grand Prize Selections will then be announced in 2027.
