Royal Canadian Mint Brings Deadpool and Wolverine to Gold and Silver Collectibles

Deadpool & Wolverine Coins

The Royal Canadian Mint is putting a precious-metal spin on two of Marvel’s most recognizable characters, teaming with Agoro for a new collection of gold and silver collectibles featuring Deadpool and Wolverine. The release plays directly into the Canadian roots of both characters. Wade Wilson, better known as Deadpool, was born in Saskatchewan, while James Howlett, the man who became Wolverine, was born in Alberta. The two eventually came together on screen in Marvel Studios’ 2024 film “Deadpool & Wolverine,” and the Mint is now celebrating that connection with a limited-edition gold collectible featuring both characters.

At the top of the collection is a 1/4-ounce piece struck in 99.99% pure gold. Designed by Agoro and produced by the Royal Canadian Mint, the collectible shows Deadpool and Wolverine facing one another in frosted relief against a matte proof field. Only 1,500 of the gold pieces will be produced. The collectible comes displayed in a clear acrylic frame held together with gold-colored magnets and is packaged in a custom printed tray-and-lid box. A hologram authenticity sticker is also included.

Collectors looking for individual versions of the characters have two silver options. Deadpool and Wolverine each appear on their own one-ounce collectible made from 99.99% fine silver, with a mintage of 10,000 pieces for each design. The Deadpool version uses a brightly coloured engraving of the character pointing toward himself in a pose inspired by his habit of breaking into monologues. Wolverine is shown in a more action-oriented pose, with his claws extended. Both portraits are backed by an engraved maple leaf, tying the Marvel characters back to their Canadian origins.

The opposite sides continue the theme with color-enhanced engravings of each character’s gloved hand. The designs are surrounded by the words “Time to give the people what they came for,” a line from the “Deadpool & Wolverine” movie.

Packaging for the silver collectibles is also character-driven. Each comes in a custom tray-and-lid box protected by a hologram authenticity sticker, with the boxes finished in Deadpool red and carrying enlarged color artwork of the featured character.

“The Mint is always looking for creative ways to showcase Canadian identity and express our national pride, so we were delighted to partner with Agoro to shine a light on the distinctly Canadian roots of Deadpool and Wolverine,” said Tom Froggatt, Chief Commercial Officer of the Royal Canadian Mint. “The Mint is proud to have applied its skill and know-how to striking precious metal collectibles that stand out as much for their manufacturing excellence as their visual and thematic appeal.”

Agoro specializes in officially licensed gold and silver collectibles built around entertainment properties, including Marvel, Disney, Star Wars, DC and Harry Potter. The company designed the new Deadpool and Wolverine pieces, with the Royal Canadian Mint handling their striking. The new collectibles are available beginning October 6 through the Royal Canadian Mint, including its boutiques in Ottawa and Winnipeg, as well as through the Mint’s network of dealers and distributors.
