Best Buy Hosting Pokémon 30th Anniversary Trade & Play Event on October 3

Best Buy is joining Pokémon’s 30th anniversary celebration with an in-store Trade & Play event planned for select locations across the United States. The retailer says participating Best Buy stores will host the event Saturday, October 3, from noon to 2 PM local time. Fans will be able to pick up a trading kit and spend the afternoon playing, trading and sharing Pokémon with other Trainers. No purchase is required to participate, although trading kits and other event materials will be available only while supplies last.

Best Buy has added the event to its dedicated Pokémon page alongside a broader Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration section. The retailer says the latest Pokémon products will be available at nearby Best Buy locations on an in-store-only basis, with limited quantities and availability while supplies last. Best Buy also links customers to its in-store release guidelines, reflecting the limited nature of some of the products connected to the anniversary.

The Trade & Play event is specifically being held at select stores rather than every Best Buy location. Best Buy’s event page includes state and store selectors so collectors can check whether a nearby location is participating before making the trip. The company has not listed a purchase requirement for the event itself, making the gathering more about playing and trading than simply buying new cards.

Best Buy is also using the same Pokémon hub to highlight the wider 30th anniversary celebration. Along with Pokémon trading cards, the page directs fans toward Pokémon toys and collectibles, video games, Pokémon GO products and card-protection accessories.
