Pokémon BGS Pristine 10 Slowking Sells for Record $156,182 at Alt

A first-edition Slowking from Pokémon’s Neo Genesis set has sold for $156,182 at Alt, setting a new record for the character. The card is a 2000 Pokémon Neo Genesis 1st Edition Holo Slowking #14 graded BGS Pristine 10. Alt announced the result after the auction closed, calling it the most expensive Slowking card ever sold.

The price is especially notable considering where top-end copies of the card were trading only months ago. A BGS Pristine 10 example sold for $47,587.32 in May 2026, while another reported sale earlier in the year reached $66,300. The new $156,182 result represents a dramatic jump for one of the key holographic cards from the Neo Genesis set.

Released in English in 2000, Neo Genesis marked the beginning of Pokémon’s Neo era and introduced the second-generation Pokémon from the Johto region to the trading card game. Slowking #14 was one of the set’s holographic rares, with the first-edition version becoming increasingly difficult to find in elite condition.

That difference in condition can have an enormous effect on value. PSA currently lists just 17 first-edition Slowking holos in PSA 10, while hundreds have received PSA 9 grades and more than 1,400 have been graded PSA 8. The Alt card was graded by Beckett rather than PSA and received the higher-end BGS Pristine 10 designation.

Slowking’s record comes during an extraordinary stretch of prices at the top of the Pokémon card market. Just six days ago, CollectiblesNews.com reported that a 2004 EX Team Rocket Returns Torchic Gold Star sold for $2.7 million at Alt, becoming the most expensive English-language Pokémon card ever sold. That PSA 10 Torchic more than doubled the previous English Pokémon record, which had been set by a Rayquaza Gold Star at $1.02 million only weeks earlier.

The $156,182 Slowking is nowhere near those seven-figure Gold Star prices, but it shows that the surge at the high end of the market is not limited to the handful of Pokémon cards already accustomed to making headlines. A character whose top graded cards were selling for tens of thousands of dollars earlier this year has now crossed well into six figures.
