Cinemark Releases Limited-Edition Jason Mask Popcorn Bucket for Friday the 13th Fans

Cinemark has given horror collectors a new way to bring Camp Crystal Lake home with a limited-edition Jason Mask Popcorn Bucket inspired by Friday the 13th. The new collectible recreates the unmistakable mask associated with Jason Voorhees while doubling as an oversized popcorn container. Cinemark priced the bucket at $39.95, and its online listing was showing the collectible as sold out when checked September 16.

At 8.6 by 8.3 by 9.3 inches, the plastic bucket is substantial enough to serve as a display piece even when it is not being used for movie-night snacks. It holds 85 ounces and is designed to be hand washed. Jason’s hockey mask has become one of the most recognizable objects in the slasher genre, making it a natural fit for the increasingly elaborate popcorn buckets movie theater chains have been producing as collectibles.

Cinemark itself describes the bucket as a tribute to Camp Crystal Lake’s most infamous resident and specifically markets it as a collectible rather than simply reusable concessionware. The theater chain also placed a strict purchase limit on the release. Customers were allowed to buy no more than three Jason Mask Popcorn Buckets, with Cinemark identifying the item as a limited-edition collectible. Sales are final, with no returns or cancellations, and the product is excluded from promotional discounts.

The Jason release arrives as collectible popcorn buckets continue to develop into a category of their own. Cinemark’s online store now includes a dedicated popcorn bucket section filled with designs based on movies and characters ranging from Ghostface and Chucky to Marvel properties and major upcoming releases.

Horror has proven particularly well suited to the format. Masks, character heads and other recognizable props can be transformed into display pieces that still retain the functional element of a traditional theater popcorn container. The sellout also adds another wrinkle for collectors who missed the initial online availability. Cinemark’s product page currently lists the Jason Mask Popcorn Bucket as sold out, although the company has not said on the listing whether additional inventory will be released.

The bucket originally sold for $39.95 and was limited to three per customer.
