Magic: The Gathering Reality Fracture Faces New Product Delays Ahead of October Release

Wizards of the Coast is warning Magic: The Gathering collectors about additional product delays for Reality Fracture, although exactly what is affected depends on where you live. The good news is that Play Boosters and Prerelease Packs are still expected to arrive on time in all regions for Prerelease events beginning September 25 and the set’s full tabletop release on October 2. Other Reality Fracture products, however, could arrive after one or both of those dates because of production and shipping delays.

For North American collectors, the newly announced delay affects Omega Collector Boosters, the individual Collector Booster packs sold through larger retailers. Wizards says all other products in the region are currently on schedule.

That comes on top of a separate Play Booster supply issue that Wizards announced in August.

As CollectiblesNews.com reported on August 28, a portion of the Reality Fracture Play Boosters headed to North America became caught in congestion at the Panama Canal after drought conditions lowered water levels and contributed to a backup. Wizards said stores should generally have product for Prerelease and release weekend, but Play Booster supplies could become difficult to find shortly afterward while waiting for additional inventory to arrive.

The new update introduces a different set of problems affecting several other regions and products.

In the Asia-Pacific region, Collector Boosters, Bundles and Reality Fracture Commander decks have been delayed and may not arrive until after the October 2 release. Wizards says Foundations Commander decks are not affected, and the rest of the Reality Fracture lineup remains on schedule there.

Collectors in Europe, the Middle East and Africa could also have a harder time finding Collector Boosters. Wizards says those products are delayed and availability is expected to remain tight leading into and through release. Secret Lair Bundles are delayed in the region as well.

Latin America is facing a delay involving Secret Lair Bundles, while all other products there are currently expected to arrive on schedule.

Japan is the exception. Wizards says all Reality Fracture products are currently on schedule for the Japanese market.

The latest announcement is notable because Wizards’ August warning was considerably narrower. At that time, the company said its information indicated that only North American Play Boosters were affected and that all other Reality Fracture products were moving on schedule.

Two weeks later, production and shipping issues are now affecting Collector Boosters, Bundles, Commander decks and Secret Lair Bundles in different parts of the world.

Wizards cautioned that the situation remains fluid and said its logistics teams are working to improve delivery times. Collectors are being advised to check with local game stores and retailers for the latest availability information.
