Shohei Ohtani Rookie Autograph Card, Michael Jordan PSA 10 and More Lead Heritage Fall Sports Card Auction

2018 Bowman Chrome Shohei Ohtani Rookie Autographs-Blue Refractor Card

Shohei Ohtani and Michael Jordan headline a loaded Heritage Auctions sports card sale later this month, but some of the most interesting lots may be the nearly complete and high-ranking vintage sets being offered alongside them. Heritage’s Fall Sports Card Catalog Auction is scheduled for September 18-19 and includes everything from an Ohtani rookie autograph card and a PSA 10 Michael Jordan rookie card to complete and near-complete sets dating back to the 1940s.

One of the centerpiece cards is a 2018 Bowman Chrome Rookie Autographs Blue Refractor Shohei Ohtani numbered 121/150. The card is graded PSA Gem Mint 10, with the autograph also receiving a PSA/DNA 10. Ohtani is represented by 49 lots in the auction, and the selection goes well beyond his rookie cards. Among them is a one-of-one 2025 Topps NOW NL MVP FoilFractor game-used relic autograph, another one-of-one 2025 Topps MVP encased FoilFractor relic autograph and a 2025 Topps Museum Collection dual autograph jumbo bat relic book pairing Ohtani with Ichiro Suzuki, numbered 4/5.

Michael Jordan collectors will have even more to sort through. Heritage is offering 107 Jordan-related lots, led by a 1986 Fleer Michael Jordan rookie No. 57 graded PSA Gem Mint 10. The card remains one of the defining basketball cards of the modern collecting era and is joined by several much scarcer Jordan pieces.

Among those is a 2009 Upper Deck Exquisite Collection Jordan Rookie Patch Flashback numbered 11/23 and graded BGS 6.5 with an MBA Gold designation. There is also a 1998 Upper Deck Ovation game jersey autograph numbered 19/23, graded PSA 6 with a PSA/DNA 10 autograph, and a 2007 Upper Deck SP Authentic triple autograph featuring Jordan, Kobe Bryant and LeBron James. The triple is numbered 5/10 and graded BGS Gem Mint 9.5 with a BAS 10 autograph.

One of the more unusual Jordan-related offerings is nearly an entire 1986 Fleer Basketball set in PSA 10. Heritage describes the group as a 131-card near set out of the 132-card checklist, with every included card graded PSA Gem Mint 10.

That kind of set collecting is a major part of this auction. A 1952 Topps Baseball near set contains 406 of the 407 cards in the landmark release. Beyond Mickey Mantle, the set includes cards of Jackie Robinson, Willie Mays, Duke Snider, Warren Spahn, Pee Wee Reese, Roy Campanella and other stars from the era.

Heritage is also offering a 1961 Topps Baseball complete set with variations. The 587-card set plus nine variations includes six cards graded PSA 10 and 584 graded PSA 9. It is currently ranked No. 4 among the finest sets on the PSA Set Registry.

Several other high-ranking Registry sets are heading to the block, including complete 1953, 1954 and 1955 Topps Baseball sets, a 1941 Play Ball set, 1953 Bowman Color and Black & White sets, and complete 1954 and 1955 Bowman collections. Many rank inside the top 15 of their respective PSA Set Registry categories.

Individual vintage cards are well represented too. A 1955 Topps Jackie Robinson No. 50 graded PSA Mint 9 is among the standouts, with Heritage noting that only one example has been graded higher. A 1951 Bowman Willie Mays rookie No. 305 graded PSA 8 is also included, with only nine examples carrying higher PSA grades.

Another card likely to attract plenty of attention is the 1980 Topps Rickey Henderson rookie No. 482 in PSA Gem Mint 10. Heritage says the example is one of only 25 to receive the grade.

Heritage’s Fall Sports Card Catalog Auction takes place September 18-19.
