Obi-Wan Kenobi Figure First Look Revealed by Hot Toys

Sideshow Collectibles is giving Star Wars collectors a closer look at Hot Toys’ upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi figure inspired by his showdown with Anakin Skywalker on Mustafar. The new unboxing video showcases the Obi-Wan Kenobi (Mustafar) 1/6 Scale Collectible Figure ahead of its worldwide release, with Hot Toys recreating Ewan McGregor’s appearance from Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith.

The figure starts with a newly developed Obi-Wan headsculpt that has been hand-painted with detailed skin texture and beard work. Hot Toys also uses its rolling eyeball system, allowing collectors to adjust Obi-Wan’s gaze for different poses.

There is an extra touch in the hair as well. Most of the dark brown hairstyle is sculpted, while woolen hair has been individually applied along the fringe to add another layer of realism to the portrait.

Hot Toys has built the rest of the figure specifically around the Mustafar duel rather than simply creating a general Episode III Obi-Wan. His Jedi clothing is heavily weathered to reflect the fight, with a layered costume that includes a tabard, outer tunic, undertunic, obi, utility belt, pants and long boots.

The lightsaber setup gives collectors several display options. Obi-Wan comes with interchangeable blue lightsaber blades along with both an LED-illuminated lightsaber and an unlit hilt. Multiple interchangeable hands are also included so the figure can be posed in different fighting stances.

What really ties the figure to Revenge of the Sith, though, is the display base. Instead of a simple Star Wars stand, Hot Toys created a Mustafar diorama featuring a repulsor platform surrounded by sculpted lava effects. It recreates the volcanic setting of Obi-Wan and Anakin’s climactic duel and gives the figure a much more complete display straight out of the box.

The release also has a natural companion piece. Hot Toys has a separate Anakin Skywalker 1/6 Scale Collectible Figure based on the same Mustafar sequence. That figure features Hayden Christensen’s likeness along with interchangeable rolling eyeballs that allow collectors to switch between Anakin’s normal blue eyes and Sith yellow eyes. Different fringe pieces can also be used to change his battle-worn appearance. Anakin gets his own elaborate Mustafar base featuring a panning droid with articulated arms and lava effects, making the two figures especially well suited to being displayed together as a recreation of the duel.
