Batman & Robin Mr. Freeze Deluxe Figure First Look Unboxing Revealed by Hot Toys

Sideshow Collectibles is giving collectors a closer look at Hot Toys’ upcoming Mr. Freeze figure from Batman & Robin, and the Deluxe Version brings plenty of the movie’s icy excess with it. A new Sideshow unboxing video shows off the 1/6 scale figure ahead of its worldwide release, including the Arnold Schwarzenegger likeness, light-up Freeze Gun and elaborate armor, along with the additional display pieces included only with the Deluxe edition.

Based on Schwarzenegger’s appearance as Mr. Freeze in the 1997 film, the figure features a newly developed and hand-painted headsculpt with the character’s ice-blue skin, detailed skin texture and Hot Toys’ rolling eyeball system, allowing the direction of his gaze to be adjusted.

The costume is one of the biggest parts of the design. Hot Toys recreated Freeze’s armored suit using metallic finishes along with translucent and iridescent pieces, giving the figure the distinctive look of Schwarzenegger’s movie costume. Lighting is also worked throughout the figure. The armor, helmet and Freeze Gun all include LED effects, helping recreate the glowing appearance seen in the film. The Freeze Gun can also be fitted with a separate freezing-beam effect for display.

Collectors get several interchangeable hands for different poses, but the biggest extras are reserved for the Deluxe Version. That edition adds Mr. Freeze’s metallic glider wings along with a frozen-environment diorama base, turning the figure into a considerably larger display inspired by the character’s scenes in Batman & Robin.

The combination fits a movie that has developed a distinctive visual identity among Batman collectors. The shiny armor, bright lighting effects and oversized Freeze Gun are all prominent parts of Schwarzenegger’s version of the character, and Hot Toys has leaned heavily into those elements rather than toning them down for the sixth-scale release.

Mr. Freeze is also not the only Batman & Robin character Hot Toys has revisited. Sideshow has previously shown a George Clooney Batman 1/6 scale figure based on the same 1997 movie, complete with a newly developed head, interchangeable lower face pieces and accessories including Batarangs, a Bat Saw, Bat Bomb, Bat Laser and even Batman’s infamous credit card.

A Chris O’Donnell Robin figure is also part of the lineup, featuring the black and metallic-red costume along with accessories such as his Throwing Bird, laser gun, climbing equipment and ice-climbing picks.
