Nintendo Reveals The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Switch 2, Amiibo, LEGO Set and More

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

Nintendo is celebrating 40 years of The Legend of Zelda with a sizable lineup of new collectibles, including a special-edition Nintendo Switch 2, new amiibo figures, ocarinas, a LEGO display set and an electronic Master Sword. The products were revealed September 8 during a special Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct presentation, with releases beginning this fall and continuing into 2027.

One of the biggest pieces for collectors is the Nintendo Switch 2 – The Legend of Zelda – 40th Anniversary Edition, which arrives October 29. The special system incorporates a Triforce design, and Nintendo is also releasing matching anniversary versions of the Switch 2 Pro Controller and a carrying case with screen protector.

The anniversary celebration also includes a physical edition of the newly remade The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for Switch 2. The game launches November 5, but collectors may be especially interested in the first print run. Nintendo says those copies will come in special packaging featuring textured foil cover art and will be available only while supplies last. That gives the early physical release editions a clear distinction from later copies, something that could make the first-print packaging particularly appealing to collectors who keep sealed Nintendo games or seek out anniversary editions.

Nintendo is also bringing back two of the most familiar faces from Ocarina of Time in amiibo form. New Young Link and Young Zelda figures are scheduled for 2027. In addition to serving as display pieces, the amiibo can be used with the new version of the game to unlock special masks featuring a retro graphical style. Another Zelda amiibo is arriving much sooner. The previously announced Mineru’s Construct figure from The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is scheduled for release September 17.

There will even be physical ocarinas for fans who want to take the Ocarina of Time theme a little further. Nintendo says two versions are coming later this year: a playable instrument and an electronic ocarina from HORI that can play individual notes or complete songs at the press of a button. The new Switch 2 version of Ocarina of Time can also recognize melodies played or hummed near the system’s built-in microphone.

The anniversary merchandise will continue into next spring with a major LEGO release. Nintendo announced LEGO The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time – Link & Epona, a 1,750-piece display model designed for adult collectors. The set is scheduled to arrive in spring 2027.

Hasbro is getting involved as well with a 27-inch Legend of Zelda Electronic Master Sword. The collectible is planned for spring 2027 and will include more than 15 sounds activated through touch and motion.

Even a visit to the Nintendo Museum will come with an anniversary collectible connection. Beginning September 9, the museum in Kyoto will introduce a special Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary ticket design. New Zelda photo opportunities will follow November 5, with anniversary activities at the museum continuing for a full year.

Nintendo is also adding a digital collecting component. Starting September 9, users of the Nintendo Today! app will be able to collect a different Legend of Zelda series digital card each day.

The collectibles are only part of a much larger anniversary celebration. Nintendo is launching a worldwide Legend of Zelda concert series in 2027, while the live-action The Legend of Zelda movie is scheduled to open in theaters worldwide on April 30, 2027.
