LEGO Wallace & Gromit Set Recreates A Close Shave Motorcycle Scene

Wallace and Gromit are getting their own LEGO Ideas set, and the new build goes straight for one of the duo’s most recognizable scenes. The 1,038-piece LEGO Ideas Wallace & Gromit set recreates Wallace and Gromit riding their retro motorbike and sidecar from Wallace & Gromit: A Close Shave. The set is available for pre-order now for $99.99 and is scheduled to begin shipping October 1.

Rather than using traditional minifigures, the set builds Wallace and Gromit as larger, posable brick-built characters. Both can be adjusted into different poses on the motorcycle, and the wheels actually turn when the model is pushed. Gromit gets some of the set’s best visual details. LEGO gave him goggles designed to magnify his eyes, while the straps on his hat can be lifted to look like they are blowing in the wind as the bike moves.

There are also several smaller references tucked into the build. Wallace’s crackers are included, along with a yarn ball and a diamond hidden inside the motorcycle seat hatch. LEGO describes the pieces as Easter eggs tied to memorable storylines from Wallace & Gromit.

The finished model is designed more as a display piece than a conventional playset. It measures more than 9 inches high, 9 inches long and 7 inches wide, giving Wallace, Gromit and the motorcycle enough size to stand on their own on a shelf or desk.

The project also has a fan-designed origin. The concept was selected as the Grand Prize winner in the LEGO Ideas “’90s Throwback – the Next Chapter” challenge before being developed into an official LEGO set. LEGO says the final release was inspired by the fan designer’s original submission and then voted for by fans.

The LEGO Ideas Wallace & Gromit set, No. 21371, is priced at $99.99 and is available for pre-order now. LEGO lists the release for ages 18 and up, with shipping beginning October 1.
