Star Trek’s 60th Anniversary Limited-Edition Prop Replicas Announced by Factory Entertainment
Factory Entertainment is celebrating 60 years of Star Trek with a new group of limited-edition collectibles spanning several eras of the franchise. Announced on Star Trek Day, the lineup includes prop replicas from Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home and Star Trek: Voyager, along with a new U.S.S. Enterprise cutaway poster inspired by The Original Series. All of the new releases are available for pre-order exclusively through Factory Entertainment.
One of the centerpieces is a Strange New Worlds Communicator Limited Edition Prop Replica. Factory Entertainment says the piece was created with access to Paramount’s Star Trek archives and original production assets, with a CNC-machined metal body and built-in video and audio effects. Those include a digital moiré display, incoming and outgoing hail effects and subspace interference. The communicator is limited to 1,000 pieces, with each one accompanied by a wooden display case, Certificate of Authenticity and numbered edition plaque.
Another release goes back to 1986 with the Klingon Hand Phaser from Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home. Factory Entertainment developed the replica using a digital 3D scan of an original production-used prop that had previously been owned by the company. The finished collectible incorporates light and sound effects and is limited to 500 pieces. Like the communicator, it comes with a wooden display case, Certificate of Authenticity and numbered plaque.
The smallest edition sizes in the announcement belong to a pair of Star Trek: Voyager Signature Edition Ray Guns inspired by the episode “Bride of Chaotica!” Factory Entertainment created separate Captain Proton and Queen Arachnia replicas, each limited to just 250 pieces. The Captain Proton Ray Gun was developed with access to an original production prop and includes a numbered plaque hand-signed by Robert Duncan McNeill. The Queen Arachnia version was recreated directly from the sole original production prop and carries a numbered plaque signed by Kate Mulgrew. Collectors ordering both Ray Guns together can also take advantage of a bundle option, with matching edition numbers available while supplies last.
Factory Entertainment is also releasing something for collectors who lean more toward Star Trek artwork than prop replicas. Technical illustrator Matthew Cushman created a new U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 Cutaway Poster specifically for Star Trek Day. The 24-by-36-inch piece provides a detailed look inside the Constitution-class Enterprise from The Original Series and is limited to 1,701 copies, a number that directly references the ship’s NCC-1701 registry.
The assortment gives the anniversary collection a broader reach than a single-series release. The new pieces stretch from the original Enterprise era through The Voyage Home and Voyager and into Strange New Worlds, with edition sizes ranging from 250 pieces for the signed Ray Guns to 1,701 for the Enterprise poster.
“Star Trek has inspired generations by showing us a future driven by imagination, exploration and possibility,” Factory Entertainment President and CEO Jordan Schwartz said in announcing the collection, adding that the company wanted the anniversary assortment to represent several different chapters of the franchise’s history.
