Trove Launches ‘Collection Dividends’ That Reward Collectors for Holding Cards

Trove is introducing a new twist to collecting cards on its platform: collectors can now earn rewards simply for building and maintaining their collections. The company has launched Collection Dividends, a new program that will pay collectors a minimum of 2% annually based on the value of their Trove collections. Rewards are calculated and paid monthly in Trove Cash.

Unlike programs that require users to lock up or stake assets, Trove says collectors maintain ownership of their cards and do not have to turn them over to participate. The company is calling Collection Dividends an industry first among major collectibles platforms. The idea is to reward collectors for holding and building a collection rather than focusing entirely on buying and selling.

“The collectibles industry has spent a tremendous amount of energy making the purchase experience more exciting, but has completely ignored the collector experience,” Trove co-founder and CEO Michael Katz said in announcing the program.

Trove launched in 2025 with a model that combines digital pack opening with ownership of actual authenticated cards. Its inventory includes sports cards along with Pokémon and One Piece cards, with collectibles authenticated and stored through the PSA Vault.

After opening a pack, a collector can keep the card in their Trove collection, request physical delivery or sell it back to Trove. The company says it provides a 100% fair-market-value buyback option, giving users another way to move out of cards without first finding another buyer.

Collection Dividends adds an incentive for the opposite choice: keeping the cards. A collector maintaining $1,000 worth of eligible cards on Trove, for example, would earn rewards based on at least a 2% annual rate, although the actual rewards are calculated monthly and issued as Trove Cash. The program is available to all collectors on the platform.

Trove describes three pieces as central to its collector strategy: offering desirable cards, providing ongoing buyback liquidity and now rewarding collectors who build long-term collections. The program also comes as digital platforms continue experimenting with different ways to combine the experience of opening packs online with ownership of physical collectibles. Trove’s approach keeps the underlying cards real and authenticated while much of the buying, collecting and selling experience takes place through the app.
