USPS Reveals New Hanukkah Forever Stamp Featuring Colorful Dreidel Design
The U.S. Postal Service is adding a new Hanukkah stamp to its 2026 lineup, continuing a series that has celebrated the Jewish holiday through postage for decades. The new issue will be the ninth Hanukkah stamp released by USPS and features a dark blue dreidel surrounded by colorful floral and foliage designs.
USPS art director Antonio Alcalá designed the stamp using original artwork by illustrator Lisa Perrin. At the center is the dark blue dreidel carrying rust-colored Hebrew letters against a turquoise background. Flowers and foliage in light and dark orange, cream and several shades of blue frame the dreidel and fill out the design.
The release continues a recurring USPS holiday series while introducing completely new artwork for 2026. The Hanukkah stamp will be issued as a Forever stamp in panes of 20, meaning each stamp will remain valid for the current First-Class Mail 1-ounce rate regardless of future postage increases. The first-day ceremony is scheduled for September 29 at 11 AM Central at Touro Synagogue, located at 4238 St. Charles Avenue in New Orleans. Postmaster General David Steiner will serve as the dedicating official. The event is free and open to the public, with attendees encouraged to register in advance.
This year’s Hanukkah begins at sundown on December 4. The eight-day Jewish holiday begins on the 25th day of Kislev on the Hebrew calendar and traditionally includes lighting the menorah, singing holiday songs and eating foods fried in oil, including latkes and sufganiyot.
USPS has regularly used its annual stamp program to commemorate holidays, historical anniversaries, notable Americans and other subjects that have developed dedicated followings among philatelists. The new Hanukkah issue adds another collectible design to the Postal Service’s 2026 releases.
The 2026 Hanukkah Forever stamp will be available in panes of 20 through Post Office locations nationwide and USPS stamp store following its September 29 first-day-of-issue ceremony.
