Mattel Creations Reveals Masters of the Universe Chronicles King Hiss Figure

Mattel Creations is bringing King Hiss into its Masters of the Universe Chronicles line with a new 6.5-inch action figure that can transform between the Snake Men leader’s humanoid and serpentine forms.

The Masters of the Universe Chronicles King Hiss figure is priced at $33 and features 30 points of articulation. Mattel has given the character detailed snakeskin-like textures across both the main figure and the additional snake parts, with interchangeable arms and a head allowing collectors to switch between his disguised human appearance and his more monstrous snake form.

The transformation is more involved than simply swapping a head. Snake arm sleeves and an alternate head reveal the character’s serpentine appearance, while the individual snake heads feature articulated jaws. Their tongues can also be removed, giving collectors additional options when posing or displaying the figure.

Mattel describes King Hiss as emerging from the mists of Preternia, continuing the more detailed presentation of characters in the Chronicles line. The figure’s scaly surface treatment is designed to give the Snake Men leader a more textured appearance than a traditional smooth action figure sculpt.

The packaging has also been designed with display in mind. Mattel says the collectible package includes an insert that can be used to pose King Hiss in front of the included backdrop, giving collectors another option besides displaying the figure on its own.

The King Hiss figure will initially be available only to Club Grayskull members through Mattel Creations. The members-only purchase window runs from September 2 at 9 AM PT through September 3 at 8:59 AM PT, while supplies last.
