Upper Deck and Hasbro Team Up for Transformers, G.I. Joe, Power Rangers and More Trading Cards
Upper Deck has signed a new licensing agreement with Hasbro that will bring some of the company’s best-known entertainment properties to new trading cards and games. Transformers will lead the partnership, but Upper Deck says future collections are also planned around G.I. Joe, Power Rangers, M.A.S.K., Jem and the Holograms and other Hasbro franchises.
The first release will celebrate the 40th anniversary of The Transformers: The Movie. Upper Deck is launching a Transformers 40th Anniversary Special Edition trading card set in September that will be sold exclusively at Target. The cards take their visual cues from the movie, with what Upper Deck describes as cinematic poster-inspired designs featuring the Autobots and Decepticons. Every box will contain the complete base set as well as cards from a “Stellar System” insert series, which places popular Transformers characters against a galaxy backdrop. There will also be parallels to chase, along with autograph cards from Peter Cullen, the longtime voice of Optimus Prime.
“Hasbro is one of the most recognizable brands in the world and has shaped generations of fans and pop culture storytelling,” Upper Deck President Jason Masherah said in the announcement. He said the company’s goal is to create trading card experiences that respect the history of the franchises while giving fans new ways to engage with them.
That Target-exclusive set won’t be the only Transformers release coming from the partnership. Later in 2026, Upper Deck plans to release another The Transformers: The Movie 40th Anniversary trading card collection under its Fleer brand. The Fleer set will have a 100-card base checklist highlighting characters and scenes from the animated film, with designs inspired by Fleer cards. Among the inserts will be “From Screen to Page,” which uses artwork from the 20th anniversary IDW comic series, and “More Than Meets the Eye,” a series of flip lenticular cards showing Transformers in both robot and vehicle modes.
Another lenticular insert, “Instruments of Destruction,” will use a 3D effect to spotlight the Decepticons and other villains from the movie. Upper Deck says autograph cards from select voice actors will also be included in the product

The Transformers anniversary sets are only the beginning. Upper Deck says future trading card collections inspired by Power Rangers, G.I. Joe, M.A.S.K., Jem and the Holograms and additional Hasbro properties are now on the horizon, potentially giving collectors a much broader lineup of Hasbro-based cards to follow in the coming years.
