Rare Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo Gold Power Prizm Card Sells for Record $695,400 at Goldin

A rare 2014 Panini Prizm World Cup card featuring Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo has sold for $695,400 at Goldin, setting a new all-time public sale record for the card.
The 2014 Panini Prizm World Cup Matchups Gold Power Prizm features the two soccer icons together on card No. 19 and is serial-numbered 5/5. The example sold by Goldin is graded BGS MINT 9.
Goldin announced the record result on X following the close of its Weekly Auction, saying the $695,400 sale established a new all-time highest public sale for the card.
The Goldin auction listing identifies the card as a 2014 Panini Prizm World Cup Matchups Gold Power Prizm featuring Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, numbered 5/5 and graded BGS MINT 9. The card’s BGS condition report is Centering: 9, Corners: 8.5, Edges: 9, and Surface: 9.5.
The card pairs two of soccer’s biggest collecting names on the same card. The two have combined for 13 Ballon d’Or awards and an astounding 1,897 goals (as of Aug. 10, 2026). Having both players together is a major part of the card’s appeal. Rather than collectors having to choose between a Messi or Ronaldo card, the Matchups design places both longtime superstars on a single collectible from a World Cup-themed product.
The $695,400 result demonstrates just how high demand can climb for scarce cards combining elite players, an early Prizm World Cup release and an extremely limited parallel. Goldin said the sale surpassed every previous public result for this particular card, establishing a new benchmark.
