Pokémon and Polaroid Team Up for Special-Edition Cameras and Film

Pokémon is teaming up with Polaroid for a new special-edition collection that brings Pikachu and other familiar characters to instant photography gear, giving collectors another crossover release to watch in Pokémon’s 30th anniversary year.

The collection is led by three different cameras. The Polaroid Now Generation 3 Instant Camera – Pokémon Edition features a red, white and black Poké Ball-inspired design, while two smaller Polaroid Go Generation 3 Instant Cameras are themed around Pikachu and Sylveon. The Pikachu version uses the character’s familiar yellow color scheme, while the Sylveon edition features pink, white and blue details inspired by the Fairy-type Pokémon.

Pokémon and Polaroid are also releasing special film to go along with the cameras. The collection includes Pokémon-themed Color i-Type Film as well as Pickachu Edition Go film. The photo frames feature Pokémon designs, while the protective darkslides included in the film packs feature additional Pokémon imagery.

Several accessories round out the collaboration, including a Pokémon-themed camera case, photo album and strap. Together with the three cameras and multiple film options, the accessories make the partnership a larger coordinated collection rather than a single commemorative camera release.

Preorders for the Pokémon x Polaroid collection are scheduled to begin soon through Polaroid and Pokémon Center. The collaboration is part of Pokémon’s continuing 30th anniversary celebration and gives fans a new way to collect merchandise tied to the milestone beyond cards, figures and plush.
