Mattel Brick Shop Celebrates 25 Years of Xbox With 3,509-Piece Full-Size Console Set

Mattel is celebrating the 25th anniversary of the original Xbox with a massive new collectible building set that recreates Microsoft’s first game console at full size.

The Mattel Brick Shop Xbox Original set is a 3,509-piece, 1:1-scale model of the original Xbox console and its iconic “Duke” controller. The premium building set is available for presale now through select retailers including Amazon, Best Buy and Mattel Creations, with a suggested retail price of $329.99.

Designed for collectors and builders ages 17 and older, the set goes beyond simply recreating the exterior of the console. Inside are detailed scenes inspired by three games closely associated with the original Xbox era: Halo: Combat Evolved, The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind and Psychonauts. The three game-inspired modules can also be removed from the console and displayed separately.

Mattel has packed the set with interactive features as well. The recreation of the original Xbox controller, commonly known as “The Duke,” is used to activate lights and sounds hidden within the model. Pressing buttons on the controller brings the interior game scenes to life with lighting effects and corresponding in-game soundtracks, while a hidden button combination activates an exclusive lighting sequence.

The set also includes 12 Mattel Brick Shop NanoWorld figures, allowing collectors to recreate scenes from the three featured games. Combined with the removable display modules and full-size console design, the release is intended to function as both a building project and a display piece for Xbox fans.

Mattel Brick Shop launched in 2025 and has been expanding its lineup with licensed properties from gaming, entertainment and automotive brands. Recent releases have included Masters of the Universe building sets and a Halo Warthog inspired by the original Halo trilogy.

The timing of the Xbox Original set puts the focus squarely on video game nostalgia. Microsoft launched the original Xbox in 2001, and the new Mattel release is designed specifically to commemorate the console’s 25th anniversary with a collectible that reproduces the hardware at the same scale as the original.
