Pokémon Reveals Rare Day and Night Pikachu Cards for 30th Anniversary Celebration Set

Pokémon has revealed two new Pikachu special illustration rare cards from the upcoming Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration expansion, giving collectors a look at a pair of connected designs built around daytime and nighttime Pokémon parades. The cards were unveiled as part of the continuing rollout for the 30th anniversary set.
Both cards feature Pikachu at the center of crowded scenes filled with other Pokémon, but each takes place at a different time of day. One shows Pikachu participating in a colorful daytime parade, while the second moves the celebration into the night beneath fireworks.
The two illustrations are the work of artist kantaro and include numerous Pokémon spread throughout each scene. The daytime card features characters including Alolan Exeggutor, Espeon, Sylveon and Cosmog, while the nighttime illustration includes Pokémon such as Gengar, Umbreon and Lycanroc. The artwork also contains visual connections between the two cards, giving collectors another reason to view them as a matching pair rather than two unrelated Pikachu releases.
That paired presentation fits the broader day-and-night theme Pokémon has been using for its 30th Celebration products. Pokémon has also announced separate Day and Night Ultra-Premium Collections for the anniversary, making the newly revealed Pikachu cards another part of the larger visual concept surrounding the milestone release.
The special illustration rare designation is likely to make the two Pikachu cards among the more closely watched pulls from the set. Pikachu has long been one of the most heavily collected characters in the Pokémon TCG, and the combination of anniversary branding, connected artwork and large groups of Pokémon gives the new pair a distinctly commemorative feel.
Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration is part of the company’s year-long celebration of three decades of Pokémon. The expansion is scheduled to arrive in September, with Pokémon continuing to reveal cards and products ahead of launch.
