Kermit the Frog Muppet*Vision 3D Park Prop Tops Disney Experiences Auction at $115,900
A park-used Kermit the Frog ornament from Muppet*Vision 3D sold for $115,900 at Heritage Auctions on Sunday, emerging as the highest-priced item in The Disney Experiences Auction – Rare and Remarkable Finds held during D23 in Anaheim. The 50-lot auction, which CollectiblesNews.com first reported on when it was announced in July, featured verified artifacts consigned directly by Disney from theme parks, resorts and other Disney destinations. The sale realized a combined $705,709.
The Kermit piece came directly from the interior theater of Muppet*Vision 3D at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the attraction that closed in 2025. The faux-marble architectural ornament depicts Kermit holding a megaphone and wearing a laurel crown, and was positioned above the double doors leading into and out of the attraction’s main theater. Heritage says the piece measures approximately 15 inches by 32 inches by 20 inches and was made from fiberglass and sculpting epoxy with hand-painted details.
The ornament also carries a direct connection to one of the most significant attractions in Muppet history. Muppet*Vision 3D opened in 1991 and was the final major project created by Jim Henson before his death in 1990, with the attraction developed through a collaboration between Walt Disney Imagineering and Henson’s team. The Kermit ornament shows signs of its years of park use, including handling and edge wear, minor paint wear and damage to the collar and megaphone handle, and was accompanied by a Disney Certificate of Verification.
Kermit was not the only piece of Muppet*Vision 3D history to rank among the biggest results of the night. An enormous park-used Miss Piggy theater ornament sold for $73,200, making it the third-highest-priced item in the entire Disney Experiences sale. Like the Kermit piece, the Miss Piggy ornament once formed part of the architecture inside the attraction’s theater at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
The Miss Piggy piece is considerably larger, standing approximately 66 inches tall, 30 inches wide and 13 inches deep and weighing 78 pounds. Designed to resemble a Greco-Roman caryatid with a Muppet twist, it was positioned high on the theater walls on either side of the stage. The hand-painted fiberglass and sculpting-epoxy figure also shows wear from its years of use and display and was accompanied by its own Disney Certificate of Verification.
CollectiblesNews.com previously reported on the Disney Experiences Auction when it was announced in July. Heritage and Disney described the event as a 50-lot offering of original park-used, park-displayed and event-used pieces spanning Disneyland, Walt Disney World and other Disney destinations. The selection included attraction props, vehicles, signs, displays and anniversary pieces, with every lot opening at $1 and being offered without reserve.
Among the attractions represented were the Haunted Mansion, Indiana Jones Adventure, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, it’s a small world, EPCOT, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and Muppet*Vision 3D. The auction took place live at the Anaheim Convention Center during D23 on August 16, with bidding also available online through Heritage Live.
