Disney and Pixar’s Cars Joins Formula 1 Collaboration With New Mattel Die-Cast Collectibles

Disney and Pixar’s Cars has officially joined Disney’s Formula 1 collaboration, and one of the first major collectibles from the crossover is a new three-piece Mattel die-cast set featuring Lightning McQueen, Francesco Bernoulli and Alex Machino.

The Disney and Pixar’s Cars with Formula 1 Die Cast Set by Mattel was listed through Disney Store for $19.99 when checked on August 14. Disney limits purchases to two sets per guest.

The 1:55-scale set includes Lightning McQueen as the official “Track Vehicle,” Francesco Bernoulli as a Formula 1 racing car and Alex Machino as an official “Recovery Vehicle.” Mattel also includes a tool cart and tire stack with the three vehicles.

For collectors who prefer to leave the set packaged, Disney says it comes in special window display packaging carrying Formula 1 branding. The packaging measures approximately 6 inches high by 9 inches wide.

Cars Joins the Disney and Formula 1 Collaboration

The die-cast set is part of the newly announced Disney and Pixar’s Cars Collection with Formula 1, expanding the broader Disney and Formula 1 partnership into the Cars franchise.

The crossover arrives as Cars celebrates its 20th anniversary and brings characters already built around racing into an official Formula 1 merchandise collection. Lightning McQueen and Francesco Bernoulli are a natural pairing for the release. Disney Store describes Lightning McQueen as the legendary Piston Cup champion and Francesco as his Italian adversary.

Alex Machino, a member of Francesco’s pit crew, rounds out the set.

The set is one of the first collectible pieces revealed as part of the Cars and Formula 1 crossover and gives both Cars die-cast collectors and Formula 1 fans a relatively low-priced entry into the collaboration.
