USPS to Release U.S. Coast Guard Academy 150th Anniversary Forever Stamp

The U.S. Postal Service will issue a new commemorative Forever stamp celebrating the 150th anniversary of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.
The stamp will be officially unveiled during a first-day-of-issue ceremony on September 12, 2026, at the Connecticut Maritime Heritage Festival in New London, Connecticut. The ceremony is scheduled for 10 AM Eastern and will be free and open to the public.
USPS said the new issue continues its tradition of honoring the nation’s military service institutions. The stamp artwork features photographs of two Coast Guard vessels.
One is the USCGC Eagle, which USPS identifies as the Coast Guard Academy’s primary training vessel since 1946. The other is the USCGC Bertholf, a Legend-class national security cutter whose missions include maritime drug interdiction and securing the maritime border.
Antonio Alcalá, an art director for USPS, designed the stamp using photographs provided by the U.S. Coast Guard. Marc McCrery, USPS customer experience vice president, will serve as the dedicating official at the ceremony.
The first-day event will take place at Custom House Pier at Waterfront Park as part of the Connecticut Maritime Heritage Festival. USPS is encouraging attendees to register in advance.
Collectors will be able to purchase the stamp and related philatelic products through the USPS Postal Store, by phone, by mail through USA Philatelic and at Post Office locations nationwide.
The U.S. Coast Guard Academy Forever stamp will be issued September 12 as part of the academy’s 150th anniversary celebration.
