Candy Digital’s MLB Next Gen Gold Series Sells Out 36 Packs in 22 Minutes

CANDY DIGITAL'S 2026 MLB GOLD SERIES ICONS

Candy Digital’s second 2026 MLB Gold Series ICONs release sold out in just 22 minutes, with all 36 Next Gen packs claimed by collectors.

The Next Gen release featured six young MLB stars: Elly De La Cruz, Pete Crow-Armstrong, Junior Caminero, Gunnar Henderson, Jackson Chourio and James Wood.

According to Candy Digital, the 36 packs generated a total of $29,000 and were purchased by 18 collectors. The first pack was claimed at $2,000, while the final pack sold for $700. Each of the six players has only 36 Gold Series editions in existence.

For each player, the collection includes 25 Rare ICONs numbered to 25, 10 Epic ICONs numbered to 10 and a single one-of-one Legendary ICON.

Every pack contained six Gold Series ICONs and was guaranteed to include at least one Epic. Collectors also had a 1-in-6 chance of receiving a Legendary. Some packs also contained a seventh bonus collectible.

Those bonus ICONs were either a Pete Crow-Armstrong Pixicon Insert numbered to five or an Elly De La Cruz Momenticon Insert numbered to five.

The release also produced an immediate secondary-market transaction. Candy Digital said an Elly De La Cruz Momenticon numbered to five resold for close to $1,700 moments after the auction ended.

The Next Gen auction averaged $805 per pack, while Candy Digital said the average price per ICON was more than $125.

Candy Digital used its Reverse Auction format for the release. Rather than beginning at a low price and moving upward, the auction opened at $2,000 per pack and dropped by $100 every 60 seconds while packs remained available.

Collectors could claim a pack at the displayed price at any point. Candy Digital said every participant saw the same price, remaining pack count and countdown at the same time.

“Two auctions, in an exciting new format, with two quick sell-outs, and our collectors driving both,” Candy Digital co-founder Matt Novogratz said.

Candy Digital CEO Tad Smith said the company is focused on documenting the beginning of players’ careers through its digital collectibles. The Next Gen release was Candy Digital’s second 2026 MLB Gold Series ICONs offering.
