1800 Tequila Releases $11,000 Pedro Friedeberg Collectible Decanter Limited to 50

1800 Tequila Mono Laberinto Doble

1800 Tequila has unveiled a new ultra-limited collectible decanter created by the late Mexican surrealist Pedro Friedeberg, with just 50 pieces produced worldwide.

Called Mono Laberinto Doble, the release is the latest entry in the 1800 Colección Tequila series and carries a suggested retail price of $11,000 per 700ml bottle.

The Extra Añejo tequila is housed inside a bespoke nickel decanter designed by Friedeberg. The design was created to complement 1800 Tequila’s pyramid-shaped bottle and features intricate lines, geometric forms and layered motifs inspired by the artist’s early encounters with architecture. Each of the 50 decanters is accompanied by an official art certificate, which 1800 Tequila says affirms its status as a collectible.

“Mono Laberinto Doble is more than a collectible; it is a tribute to the maestro’s legacy and a representation of the longtime connection between 1800 Tequila and Mexican artistry,” said Patrick Charpenel, Executive Director of El Museo del Barrio.

One of Friedeberg’s Final Projects

Friedeberg’s relationship with 1800 Tequila began in 2017, when he became the inaugural artist for the 1800 Milenio Artist Series in Mexico. According to the company, Mono Laberinto Doble was one of the final projects Friedeberg completed.

The new release continues the Colección series’ history of artist-designed decanters. Previous editions have featured designs by artists and cultural figures including Bosco Sodi, Leonora Carrington, Gary Baseman and Hector Velazquez.

1800 Tequila describes Colección as one of the rarest tequilas in the world and says it is released only in the finest years of production. The Extra Añejo tequila is made from 100% blue Weber agave harvested in the Tequila Valley and aged for at least three years in new American oak casks and French oak casks that previously held Amarone wine.

The company describes the finished tequila as having notes of oak, cooked agave, honey, prune and subtle vanilla.

Limited to 50 Worldwide

With only 50 examples produced globally, the Mono Laberinto Doble decanter is positioned as both a tequila release and a piece of collectible art.

The release is also featured in Assouline’s new book The Art of Tequila: Spirit of Mexico, which explores the relationship between tequila, Mexican art, craftsmanship and culture.

Mono Laberinto Doble is available at 1800Tequila.com as a limited collectible for a suggested retail price of $11,000 per 700ml bottle.
