Spawn 77 #1 Gets Rare 1:100 Variant and Signed Foil Covers

Image Comics has revealed two new collectible variant covers for the upcoming Spawn 77 #1, including a 1:100 incentive cover featuring Todd McFarlane’s original 1977 Spawn artwork.
The new three-issue Spawn Universe miniseries is based on the original Spawn design McFarlane created as a 16-year-old in 1977, years before Spawn #1 debuted in 1992. Spawn 77 will mark the first official comic book appearance of that original design.
The series is co-written by McFarlane and Mark Spears, with Spears providing fully painted interior artwork. Image Comics said the story introduces a new character and a new story rooted in Spawn mythology.
The newly revealed Cover B features artwork by Spears with inks by McFarlane. Collectors will also be able to chase Cover H, a 1:100 copy incentive variant by McFarlane featuring his original 1977 Spawn artwork.
Those editions are part of a much larger variant lineup planned for the first issue.
Spawn 77 #1 will also have a 1:25 retro logo incentive cover by McFarlane and a 1:50 McFarlane incentive variant.
At the higher end of the incentive structure, Image Comics is offering a 1:250 foil McFarlane variant signed by McFarlane. An even scarcer 1:500 foil variant will feature artwork by Spears and McFarlane and will be signed by both creators.
Other covers include a Mark Spears Cover A, a newly redrawn and recolored version of McFarlane’s original 1977 artwork, an Emma Ríos cover and a blank sketch cover.
The debut issue will be an extra-length 64-page comic priced at $6.99. Spawn 77 #1 is scheduled to arrive in comic shops in September 2026. Image Comics said additional information and cover reveals will be announced in the coming months.
