American Girl Teams With Megan Moroney for New Doll Collection

American Girl is teaming with country music star Megan Moroney for a new collection of 18-inch doll fashions and accessories, with a Megan Moroney-inspired American Girl doll also scheduled to arrive later this year. Mattel just announced the collaboration, timing the release to Moroney’s first arena tour.

The American Girl x Megan Moroney collection takes inspiration from the singer’s country-pop style, including the bright colors, sparkle and concert accessories associated with her performances. The initial collection is available through American Girl and includes several outfits and accessory sets designed for the company’s 18-inch dolls.

Among the new releases is the American Girl x Megan Moroney Stage Outfit, a pink sequined look inspired by Moroney’s on-stage style. A separate Fan Fashion Outfit uses denim and sparkle to recreate the type of look fans might wear to one of her concerts.

The collection also includes Concert-Ready Accessories and VIP Accessories designed around the experience of attending a Megan Moroney show. One of the standout pieces is an American Girl-sized iridescent guitar and microphone stand modeled after the equipment Moroney uses on tour.

Moroney said the partnership carries a personal connection because she grew up with American Girl dolls. “I’ve been an American Girl fan for as long as I can remember,” Moroney said in the announcement, adding that one of her favorite Christmas gifts was her first American Girl doll and that she still has it in its box at her parents’ house.

Moroney said she used her dolls for imagined cheerleading routines and concerts when she was younger and also paid close attention to their outfits.

The collaboration will expand later this year with an all-new 18-inch American Girl x Megan Moroney doll.

Unlike the fashions and accessories already being sold through American Girl, the Megan Moroney doll will be available exclusively through Target. Mattel said the doll will arrive on Target.com on November 22 and begin appearing in Target stores in early December. The release will also mark the first time American Girl’s 18-inch dolls have been sold at Target.

American Girl said the broader collection is intended to give fans a way to recreate Moroney-inspired concert looks and performances with existing 18-inch dolls before the exclusive doll arrives for the holiday season.
