Topps, Denim Tears and NBA Partner on Ultra-Rare Basketball Cards

Topps Denim Tears

Topps has partnered with Denim Tears and the NBA to create a new series of ultra-rare basketball cards. The collaboration will appear in 2025-26 Topps Chrome Updates Basketball, which is scheduled for release on August 6.

“Topps has partnered with Denim Tears and the NBA to create an ultra-rare set of basketball cards,” Topps said in announcing the collaboration. “Look for short printed Denim Tears variations in Topps Chrome Update Basketball on August 6.”

Topps’ official product page identifies the Denim Tears cards as an SSP parallel within the Chrome Updates Basketball release. The company has not disclosed the number of players included in the collaboration, the production quantities or the odds of pulling one of the variations.

The Denim Tears cards will join several other short-print and super-short-print chases in the product. Topps Chrome Updates Basketball will also include Alter Egos SSP cards, Minions NBA SSP cards and Captains and Celebración short-print inserts.

The 200-card base set will feature updated in-season photographs of rookies, veteran players and legends wearing Statement, City and Classic Edition uniforms.

The release is also scheduled to introduce Rookie Debut Patch Autographs to Topps Basketball. The one-of-one cards will contain game-worn patches taken from the jerseys players wore during their NBA debuts.

Topps identified Cooper Flagg, Kon Knueppel and Dylan Harper among the rookies featured in the Rookie Debut Patch Autograph chase. Other players appearing across the product include Stephen Curry, LeBron James, Victor Wembanyama, Anthony Edwards, Nikola Jokić and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

Hobby and Jumbo boxes will be released through EQL, while Mega and Value boxes will be sold directly through Topps.com while supplies last.

2025-26 Topps Chrome Updates Basketball is scheduled to become available on August 6 at noon Eastern.
