CGC’s August Hot Comics List Focuses on DC’s Absolute Universe

DC’s Absolute Universe is the focus of CGC’s August 2026 Hot Comics list, with five modern issues from the publishing line featured by the grading company.

CGC’s monthly Hot Comics feature uses submission data to highlight comics attracting collector attention. The August selections include DC All In Special #1, Absolute Batman #1, Absolute Wonder Woman #1, Absolute Superman #1 and Absolute Martian Manhunter #1.

CGC did not rank the five comics or identify one issue as the top selection.

DC All In Special #1

DC All In Special #1 helped launch DC’s Absolute Universe and the publisher’s broader All In initiative.

The 2024 one-shot introduced the events that created the alternate universe and provided readers with an early look at the new versions of several major DC characters.

Absolute Batman #1

Absolute Batman #1 introduced a new version of Bruce Wayne without the wealth and resources traditionally associated with the character. The 2024 issue was written by Scott Snyder and illustrated by Nick Dragotta.

CGC described Absolute Batman as the flagship title of the Absolute Universe and pointed to its strong reviews, multiple printings and collector demand.

Absolute Wonder Woman #1

Absolute Wonder Woman #1 reimagines Diana in a darker fantasy setting involving mythology, magic, horror and survival. The 2024 series was written by Kelly Thompson and illustrated by Hayden Sherman.

CGC said the title has attracted attention for its artwork, character development and new approach to Wonder Woman.

Absolute Superman #1

Absolute Superman #1 presents a different version of Superman shaped by his experience as a Kryptonian refugee. The series was written by Jason Aaron with artwork by Rafa Sandoval.

CGC highlighted the title’s emotional storytelling and its modern interpretation of the character.

Absolute Martian Manhunter #1

Absolute Martian Manhunter #1 takes a psychological science-fiction approach to the DC hero. The series was created by writer Deniz Camp and artist Javier Rodríguez.

CGC said the comic has drawn interest for its experimental visual style and its exploration of identity and perception.
