Naruto Card Game Reveals First Cards and Gameplay Ahead of 2027 Launch

Naruto Card Game

Bandai has revealed the first gameplay details, card designs and event plans for the upcoming Naruto Card Game.

The strategy-focused trading card game is based on characters and stories from Naruto, Naruto: Shippuden and Boruto: Naruto Next Generations. It is scheduled for a worldwide launch in summer 2027.

Bandai first announced the game in June and is now providing collectors and players with an early look at its card types and artwork ahead of its public debut at Gen Con 2026.

Some of the first cards shown in a YouTube preview feature Naruto Uzumaki, Sasuke Uchiha, Sakura Haruno, Jiraiya and Itachi Uchiha. The game will use original illustrations from multiple artists alongside images drawn from the anime and manga, including cards based on memorable scenes and original manga artwork.

Each player will build a deck around a Leader card. A complete deck includes 51 cards, five Chakra cards and one Summon card.

The color of the Leader determines which characters and strategies can be used. Players win by attacking and reducing the opposing Leader’s Life to zero.

The game includes five main card types.

Leader cards form the center of each deck, while Character cards serve as the player’s front line and can attack or activate Jutsu by spending Chakra. EX Character cards can enter play after certain conditions are met and are designed to create major shifts during a match.

Chakra cards provide the resources needed to activate Jutsu and other support effects. Each deck must also contain a Summon card used to bring Character cards into battle.

The Naruto Card Game will make its world debut at Gen Con in Indianapolis from July 30 through August 2, 2026. Bandai will offer free beginner-friendly tutorial sessions, participant gift sets and giveaways at its booth.

The game will then appear at events around the world as Bandai moves toward the 2027 release.

Planned stops include New York Comic Con, PAX Australia, Spiel Essen and Paris Games Week in October 2026, followed by Lucca Comics & Games in November. Additional information is scheduled to be released in December, with in-store tutorial sessions beginning in January 2027.

After launch, Bandai plans to support the game with organized play ranging from local store events to major tournaments. The competitive program is expected to culminate in a World Championship.

The first public look at the cards, including the mix of newly commissioned illustrations and artwork from across the franchise, gives collectors an early preview of the visual approach Bandai is taking with the new trading card game.

Naruto Card Game is scheduled to launch worldwide in summer 2027.
